  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I do not find that it is worthy or virtuous that a person spends more than half of his life working, I do not like this mentality imposed by society and worse still I do not like the fact that nothing can be done to change it

My thoughts exactly <3 I absolutely hate the grind culture that our society has. It only leads to burn out, stress, depression and health problems. Our society is going to keep declining unless we focus more on mental health and less on working 9-5 that only fulfills the agenda of filthy rich & greedy a**holes. Fudge capitalism!!

Agree. I hate the way society treats working as an imperative, how your job is connected to social status. Sad that a common way to introduce yourself is to talk about what you do for work...

I would rather CTB than work right now, I stay because my life is comfortable enough and those who support me want me around.

Not at all, that's what life should be. Life shouldn't be where you have to sacrifice 5 days a week just to make ends meet, you're supposed to enjoy life to its fullest. Fortunately, the younger generation is waking up to this and hopefully real change is on the horizon.

I don't think it's wrong. That's also my dream. Having to work for a living sucks, people who pretend otherwise are deluding themselves.

I'd like just be able to do something worthwhile and meaningful as it suits me without having to worry about income generation.

No I don't think it's wrong. I feel the same. I'm too sick to work. Emotionally cannot deal with the forced pressure to get along with others. It's a major stressor I don't need.

I lost all desire for working a long time ago. Like 6 years ago I lost desire for it. I don't want to work, CTB will make me free from having to work

I dream of a world where people work because they *want* to, not because they *need* to. That's what automation is for (or should be for).

You're not lazy or a leech on society for wanting to spend your time on your own terms.

Having a job is just being a slave to the system. Our lives are short and essentially meaningless so it makes sense wanting to live a comfortable life instead of doing something that sends you into despair. This society places too much emphasis on productivity.

I mean living in the natural world means that you are benefitting from all the energy and labor of countless people that lived before you and millions of plants and animals over the course of your lifetime. Generally that means you have to reciprocate and give back your own time and energy in the form of work. Unless your parents are very rich and essentially gift you a lot of resources.

I think in the modern world if you're willing to forgo status and comfort you can live without working. It's called being homeless. There is enough excess food to feed people who don't want to work. If you don't like that life then you can either work or CTB.

No.

There are plenty of people who live well without having to work their most vital years away.

Celebrities live well off of royalties from work they did decades ago.

So much wealth and financial comfort is inherited.

You've seen them. They're people who aren't particularly nice or thoughtful or sensitive, not particularly generous with what they have even though they see need and suffering all around them.

"It's all about hard work!". No. No it isn't. If that were true fast food workers, retail workers and janitors would all be rolling in money.

As someone on here said, it would be wonderful to put effort into something that is meaningful to you without having the strain of having to rely on it to remain fed, sheltered and clothed.

And the folks on SS have an especially hard time keeping up with the system that designed it so that those who are rich have to grind their days away at jobs that drain them and mean nothing to them.

I posted a thread about starting a safe home for us here on SS, a place where we could handle manageable jobs while living securely and having each other to rely on when needed.

It's a nice thought.

No, you're not wrong. You just don't have the advantages that others have.

This is why people study so hard so they can get a high paying job and retire sooner.
