In all of my reading on this forum the general consensus is if you hit the brain you will be out before you hear the gunshot. Instantaneous loss of consciousness with no time to register any pain.

But alas, this all comes from random people on the internet. Are they right? I hope so.

I am not a specialist but I heard that fatal shooting to your head is painless because you destroy your brain before your body is able to receive pain signals.

I saw a bunch of videos of people shooting themselves in the head as suicide or by accident and getting shot by amateurs and professionals (swat sniper) and i say it depends what part of the brain you hit and what ammo is used. There is a kid from a bunch of years ago who got hit by a random bullet from a gang shootout and he lost i think 50% of his brain and recovered completely after a bunch of months of hard training but also people getting hit by one 9mm bullet and they die instantly. I thought about shooting myself a long time ago but now my preferred way is decapitation by train or getting smushed by a cargo container.

You can't really compare a gang shootout to a suicide attempt. The suicide attempt is a contact shot, all the velocity and gas expelled go directly into the shot. Plus you have control over the placement.

It should be yes just make sure to aim right and hit the brainstem = controls heart rate breathing whole bunch of other things but you sever that connection you sever your life. Do some more reasearch I didn't encompass everything that needed to be said about the brainstem.

As everyone has said, if you hit the right spot & die instantly, then yes. If not then definitely no.

Smashed by a cargo container is a new one.

I saw a gore video a while ago from a Chinese freight harbor and a random guy was crushed by a container that wasn't secured correctly and all that was left of the poor dude was minced meat. Nasty for whoever had to clean it up but at least he didn't suffer for more than a few milliseconds if at all.

True but still i read about people surviving it.
