  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

They say that full suspension/complete hanging hurts like hell and you suffocate for eternity whilst partial hanging is the flip side of that and relatively painless and able to subdue you easily, Okay, I have a thought though Full suspension must be as painless as partial (theoretically)

Here's the evidence:

The weight needed for Carotid artery closure is easily obtainable with just partial suspension, alright moving on

So if it's easily closed with partial suspension, then we could logically say the first thing to be restricted (Full-suspension wise) by the ligature is the carotid artery's! Then the nasty bits like the trachea, etc so this means with a tight enough ligature the carotid artery's regardless of full suspension, or partial suspension go first meaning a peaceful death without stereotypical rope choking you see in movies, I rest my case

Might be wrong… thoughts?

It could be that you will be unconscious in 10 seconds. It could be that you remain concious for several minutes suffocating in severe agony the entire time. Both are known to happen and both have been observed throughout a long history of using hanging as an execution method.

I have been considering this method lately, but I am absolutely terrified that I will not pass out in 10-15 seconds and that I would be left there suffocating and struggling before dying of asphyxiation, or hypoxia.

I know that it is possible to pass out very quickly, but only if the correct amount of pressure is applied in the right way, and I am not sure how to ensure that just from hanging myself. I read stuff about making sure the knot is on the right side of the face, but I really wouldn't know what I am doing and I wouldn't want to mess it up and be left there suffocating to death fro several minutes.

I really wish I had access to N, or some other strong narcotic. Fentanyl is supposed to be everywhere with all these people are supposedly dying from it, but I have no idea where I would obtain it in my city. Since I can't access anything like that, this leaves me with either partial suspension hanging, or using SN to make my exit... neither of which I am confident will be as peaceful as using N or opiates to overdose on...

The psychological pain is more than the physical pain if you do it the right way.

People tell wonderful horror stories. If you have seen any of the videos out there, you get a few seconds and black out. Getting the setup correct is the key. Those that struggle and suffer did not do it correctly. Do your research first and a little practice will help get it right.

From my testing it is hardly painful at all, and is actually... calming in a way. It is a bizarre as hell feeling, but it doesn't really hurt. If you do it right you'll pass out in 7-15 seconds, but if you do it wrong it'll be up to 10 minutes until you pass out. This is of course heavily dependent on what rope you use, where the knot and rope is positioned, and how fast you go from standing on a chair to hanging .

In a properly done full suspension hanging, your neck snaps and you die instantly. The only slightly tricky thing is calculating the length of the drop so it is just enough to break your neck but not enough to take your head off. If you don't care about this, you can go with a long drop. It is only with a very short drop, like standing on a chair in your house, that you have to worry about choking.

ETA: I take it back, not tricky at all, one could use the Official Table of Drops

Neck snapping is done professionally with measured full.
In our version of full, the slip knot tightens quickly and makes you pass out in several seconds. Then you die.

Personally i would go with partial and the rope in my neck would have two clothes attach to both sides of the trachea so both of my arteries get closed at the same time.
