Is life full of misery and death the only freedom, or does death trap us as we have no option to stay dead?

When we are living we can chose to die. But when we are dead we cannot chose to live.
How is this influenced by your political belief?

To me death certainly is freedom and it's the only freedom from the curse that is existence as once someone is gone nothing can concern them and this existence won't even be a distant memory, they will now be unable to suffer for all eternity. I just believe death to be complete non-existence, it's finally the end of everything and it's the only relief in this hellish world that is filled with endless suffering. The existence of life was just an horrific tragedy in the first place.

We live and.then cease.to exist. So you dont stay dead because you'd not exist to.stay dead. I wonder if some people misunderstood because your identity does not find.freedom in death because there is no-one. I also believe that life is by and large, one.of suffering on numerous levels with happier moments inbetween. We live and then we cease to live. I embraced this natural law and my fear disappeared. I only fear a protected painful death like my mum did.

Certain drugs like Ketamine or Psilocybin can in some cases give you your freedom back by rewiring/resetting neural pathways in your brain. If that fails, then yes only death or deep sleep (coma) gives you relief from this hell existence.

It depends on how a person defines freedom, and whether or not they care about living. Yes - death could be considered freedom in one way, because it liberates a person from any suffering that is holding them as a prisoner in their own body. But also no - death could not be considered freedom in another way, because you will no longer exist - consciously - to actually have the freedom to do whatever you wish with your life; from this perspective death is completely the opposite of freedom because it is permanent.

I mean freedom = options. The more freedom the more options.
So being dead = absolutely no options at all to do anything = no freedom.

same issue comes to my mind quite often too. i'm virtually constantly in pain (mostly physical) and i can't function in everyday life so resting (which is dying cuz i don't know any other option to end my suffering) sounds amazing. however, death is absence of everything, i won't be there to enjoy my eternal rest. i believe it is very hard to fathom death since nothingness is near impossible to apprehend. hence, we need to be quite certain that life has nothing left to offer us before commiting or that not existing is the best for us. i really want to be free of my sufferings but i'm a bit indecisive about ctb because of these.

It has to depend on your belief I suppose. Whether you believe you CAN experience being dead- so- sentience lives on. Only then would you be able to regret having killed yourself. But then- presumably, you would be 'living' or- at least conscious in some afterlife. So- unless that's even worse- you'd likely be adapting to your new (after)life.

I personally believe it's more likely everything just ceases at death. No more thoughts, no more feelings, no more awareness. Just nothing. Like before we were born. Do you remember before you were born 'thinking'- I can't wait for this nothingness to end?' I don't think we'll experience time after death- there simply won't be an 'us' to experience anything. That's my best bet/ hope though. For people who believe something in us still exists beyond death- then, I guess all sorts is possible.

Nobody knows whether death is the only freedom because nobody ever returned to us telling us how it is over there, except near death experience, but these people didn't do the very last and final step. This is where believes are kicking in and the question "What comes after death?" may be unanswered for living beings for all times.
