I've heard that there exists something called the third rail, it's used in subways for some reason I'm not qualified enough to understand, but what I do understand is that touching it is certainly lethal, due to how electrocharged it is. Is this method viable? The only two downsides I can think of are: 1) traumatizing bystanders and people who'd be using that subway lane; 2) the risk of the subway manager (??) reacting quick enough and disabling the electricity to assist me in getting out of the railway

The very first thing to me that comes to mind is this aspect: "do unto others as you would want them to do onto you: as far as the trauma involved for not only other passengers but rail maintenance would be horrifying at best.
AS with any high voltage aspect, there is death, read maybe, HOWEVER, there can be life altering burns on the body and much worse that one would have to content end with.
This is the same, at least to/for me as someone who steps in front of an oncoming train. The poor folks running the train and if there are any bystanders having to deal with all the hellish trauma is not fair to the poor souls.

Electrocution can leave you severely injured. It's not guaranteed to die and there are people who have survived thunderbolts.
The main question is: Do they use AC or DC? How many volts? Some subway system only use 400-600V while others (train for example) up to 15kV. It's country specific.
There are way better methods.
