I will be the rare exception to say yes, hospitalization helped me. But the thing is there's a difference between what a hospital can help and what they can't.
If you're in a specific and severe episode, have a sudden problem that wasn't there before, have not had any mental health treatment before, or are in need of diagnosis and meds, it helps. When I went into psychosis it greatly helped me to be out on the right meds. The thing is that was a one off, easily treatable thing.
For issues that aren't episodic like chronic depression, personality disorders, and any disorder that you've had for a while, the hospital is essentially useless. If you've already tried relevant medications and therapies then the hospital had no more to offer you than a place to be physically contained in. Any therapy offered there is very low grade and basic. The environment won't be one of healing at all.
