I just found a video talking about 20 facts of a human body that was interesting. There are some facts and I'll number them in this thread that seem to be relevant when considering death.
Facts number 2, 3, 13, 16, 17, 19, and 20, those are related to how the body functions in relation to sentience and also one of them, particularly number 13, is useful information with regards to pain.
Make of that what you will though, and hopefully with the knowledge of how the human body works, it may help some people with their existing methods or method choice.
