I tested positive for a rare antibody that causes my body to eat its own nerve-endings (likely a complication from Lyme). IVIG is the only treatment that is effective to suppress it and has worked for me for 5 years, until both of my parents' employers abruptly switched from their former insurances to Cigna.
Cigna is using stalling tactics and making it impossible for me to get coverage even though I literally have a positive diagnosis corroborating my case and have multiple neurologists fighting with them over the phone every day. Just testing positive should be enough to make me immediately eligible for treatment. It's like testing positive for cancer and being refused chemo. This disease is rapidly advancing and progressive and I don't have the luxury of time on my side to wait out their "games".
We're sure that what they're doing is illegal but they make filing a lawsuit against an insurance company an ordeal as well. I'll likely have lost all ability to move my arms and legs before anything is resolved.
How will I even go about killing myself when I'm completely paralyzed? I already weigh less than Eugenia Cooney and am taller than her & so far that hasn't done shit.
