I haven't slept in 3 days. It reminds me of when I was badly hooked on stimulants but the thing is I'm completely sober so this is just weirding me out by now. I literally can't sleep even though I spend all day tired and wishing to go to bed. When night actually comes it all goes away and I stay awake rolling around and I'm starting to feel like I'm going crazy.

If you tried everything then you could go to a psychiatrist but i recommend testing others method before starting taking medicines.

Yep, you should start taking medicines only if you already tried everything else, because the side effects can be devastating and maybe damage you forever.
My condolences about the benzos situation @caramelpudding, i hope you can get better, try talking to others doctors about your situation, maybe there's a solution.

Oh I know what that is like, I'm really sorry you're going through it, it really sucks. I hope it gets better, maybe a (different?) doctor could help.

I take 3mg of melatonin and 3 magnesium capsules and a valerian supplement every night… i should probably try 5mg melatonin but I wanted to avoid it because I already had a melatonin dependency in the past. I already have a doctor appointment so it could be worse.

Try a half of a Doxylamine. It's an OTC antihistamine/sleep aid. If half doesn't do it, try a whole one. There is also Diphenhydramine as well. But that one tends to lead to restless leg syndrome at night if taken to long.

You should tell your doctor if you can increase the dose, remember that medicines can fuck you up even more, you need to be cautious. I recommend you using AI to help you find natural ways to fix your problem, tell it about your lifestyle, tell what you already tried, tell that you don't want anything that can possibly leave you damaged. AI have helped me decrease the physical pain that i was having, doctors only would tell me to rest, AI give me more ideas to how i would "fix" my problem, but of course you need to search in depth the information.

I've had insomnia for years. It's probably not healthy but I take 10 to 15 mg of melatonin and 25 mg of benadryl. Just up the melatonin till you fall asleep. There's a time when it took 40mg of melatonin, I'm still kind of sane, ha

taking that much of melatonin is not a good ideia, it can fuck up your insomnia even more, you can get more tired when you need to be awake, have more nightmares, have headaches, fuck up your stomach. your body has a limit of how much of something it can absord, it can be that the excess of melatonin you're just putting out when you urinate. Please guys do not play with medicines, do not increase the dose on your own, it can leave you guys with permanent damage, take care, i don't wanna see you guys fucked up.
Science studies shows that increasing the dose of melatonin above 5mg does not have any positive effect and also tells that taking the melatonin 2 to 3 hours before your bedtime is the best.

I'm glad to hear you're managing to sleep, but still be careful. I don't know if you've already spoken to your doctor about taking all that melatonin, but if you haven't, it's a good idea to mention it.

Have you tried exercising to be absolutely exhausted ?

Really random but i've noticed swimming in the ocean always knocked me out no matter how restless or insomniac i was. I guess it's easier said than done.

Hope you find a way to catch some zZz.

That's a very good tip, doing exercises several hours before bedtime certainly help you to fall asleep. Avoid using screens, lights, or have any other high stimulus for at least one hour before bedtime. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 1 hour before sleeping and also when you eat you should eat a light meal. There's a lot of others tips for helping people fall sleep in a natural way.

First time I was suicidal and insomniac seroquel in low dosage worked. It likely saved me.

This time i don't want to be saved.

Well, you have a point, but at the same time SI still exists, i don't know how much it affects you, but i think it's best to take good care of our health as best as we can to not end up with worse health and seeing that SI are still kicking in, stopping us from CTB.

It's been really hard for me to push myself to exercise the last few months though lately I walk like 20 thousand steps a day (for no particular reason, i'm just unemployed). I remember it helped at the beginning but now I'm just tired and nothing happens anyway. Maybe I'll try something new ^^

Try light therapy. When you get up in the morning, immediately get sun exposure. When you sleep at night, reduce light exposure to the absolute bare minimum. Apart from this, I would highly recommend getting into a sauna 3 times a week and staying in there till you can't take it.

I'll give you one more recommendation. Do blood donation. Blood donation will remove excess metals from your blood. And it also has a host of other benefits.

Sweating, urination and sitting on the lid reduces toxins from our body a lot. I know a guy who had way too much of iron in his body . I think it was iron from eating a lot of organ meats. And until the excess iron could be removed, he couldn't sleep. It was blood donation that removed the excess iron from his blood. There's no other way to remove iron.

I'm not saying this is your issue, but I'm saying try everything until something helps.
