How far do they go to determine a motive in suicide at UK inquests. Will they check my computer, my phone looking for possible explanations as to why I wanted to die? If they find my diary, will they read it? I don't want any of this to happen and just want my note to speak for itself, so I'm wondering what steps I should take to that end. Thanks

i mean it highly depends on method. I have a little personal experience with this though.

When my grandmother killed herself she left no note and initially the death was 'suspicious'. She was badly decomposed so they had to make sure there was no signs of trauma, eventually it got ruled as suicide after autopsy. She OD'd and bits of substances were still in her.

Before they knew how she died they asked family if she had any friends or partners. her friends were questioned when she stopped seeing them but that's because there was no clear date of death due to decomposition. They checked phone for cell data of last calls in and out and they read her poetry to make sure no one left a confession.

I'd say bin or burn everything you don't want them to check that's paper. factory reset your phone, tablet and PC so they don't have any saved passwords or data. It's a bit extreme imo, but generally the police don't look into reason when it's clearly self death and has a note. it's the family that search normally
