Last Saturday, @About_to_Go posted that he was in a hotel room and had snorted a gram of Fentanyl. For anyone wondering, he did get the outcome that he wanted; I have seen his obituary.

I will not be posting the obit to protect his privacy and also to prevent inadvertently leading his family to this forum. There was a picture of him, and he still looked very much more like a boy than a man.

I know there's a member or two here keeping records of members we've lost and by what means... I don't know if this will be of interest for that data.

On a personal note, he and I had PM'ed a great deal, and at one point we discussed his reasons for CTB. He told me that an old basketball injury had affected his ankle in such a way that he was in chronic pain and it was limiting his mobility. I advised him to seek out a specialist that could offer steroid injections and/or perform a tenectomy; he found one very close to home that accepted his insurance and would see him without a referral. He seemed really optimistic and excited about the possibility of getting some relief.

Sadly, there was obviously more going on with him than just his ankle, and I don't know what all that was. I do know for him there was only one solution to give him the release he needed.

Last January, he attempted with 1, 4 Butanediol and alcohol after it was discussed in such detail in a mega thread. He messaged me, and I kept him company chatting until he lost consciousness; the end result was nothing more than a hangover and feeling logy for a couple days.

About_to_Go was kind, thoughtful, funny, and as smart as he was sweet, which was very. We shared a dark sense of humor, and he introduced me to Bojack Horseman, the animated sitcom from which his profile pic was from. He was always friendly and fun to talk to.

While I'm glad he found his peace in a comfortable and relaxed way, I will miss him terribly. Farewell, sweet boy; you're free from the burden of pain now, but the sunny memories of you will live on. I'm glad you were part of this community, and feel lucky to have known you.

Thanks for telling us what happened, although I'm sure his family is probably in shambles right now. It's hard to see others on this forum go, although I always have to remind myself that it's a personal choice and not one I can judge. I can only imagine that the pain and suffering he went through was bad, if he had given it thought for so long and attempted once before. I hope he is in a better place now, and if not, he is no longer suffering.

I know. I'm so glad nothing can hurt him again, but my heart breaks for his family.

No, he was an inexperienced drug user and definitely not an alcoholic.

Thanks for letting us know. And a lovely memorium. Someone I've been PMing for several months has suddenly left, but I have no way of knowing that they're gone, or if I just offended them by mistake...

You say he looked more like a boy than a man, do you mind me asking how old he was roughly?
