  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Just wanting some peace

I have said this many times before, but it is such a horrible unfair world we live in where we are forced to exist without choice and yet it is so difficult to leave. Every day it hurts me that ctb is so hard. In this world there is so much pain and suffering that is being experienced and yet the society denies us the option of a peaceful exit and expects us to suffer against our wishes. Trying to force people to live is cruel. I find it horrific that people have to resort to risky and traumatic methods that can fail in order to end their pain.

I see life as being very pointless overall, and staying alive will only mean more dread and despair for me. I believe that the option of a peaceful exit would make life more bearable for many people knowing they could exit when the time is right for them. To me, eternal sleep is preferable to any kind of life. I simply do not want to have to experience anything, I get no enjoyment from life. Every day there is a chance of my life getting much worse as there is unlimited potential for suffering in this life. I will never want to live no matter what. Everyday I wish we lived in a world where I could just exit peacefully. To fall asleep and never wake is what I want the most. Death will end my pointless struggle, I was never meant for this world.

Why would death be easy if living is so hard?

In terms of society being to blame for not investing in painless ways of dying, normal people cherish life and invest in exactly the opposite technologically and medically, so it's completely natural.

I agree, it should be too. I think it's coming, too late for many of us, but we will get there. In the meantime I'm sorry you're having to go through this, and wish things were different…

I understand the many reasons why death on demand may be socially ill-advised, but in cases where one must suffer chronic suicidality and anhedonia for years or even decades, it is simply cruel to force people into a choice between a risky and frankly terrifying gamble that might leave them even worse off or a numbing enduring of their long life sentence. For such extreme cases, a means tested, dignified exit should be a possibility, it would be the humane thing to do. Whatever red tape is put in place to prevent abuse or impulsive suicide would be a small price to pay that I'm sure anyone interested would acquiesce to.

I disagree - humans should not be treated worse than our pets! Human life is hard because people are forced to live longer than the body lasts and human death is hard because people can not have a lethal injection like our pets - our dogs and cats are killed quickly, peacefully and painlessly at the veterinarian.

This only shows that their death doesn't affect us as much as that of other humans.

By the way, I'm personally pro-euthanasia or pro-choice, I'm just trying to explain why I think society isn't awfully interested in making voluntary death something commonplace.
