From the research I've done, I've figured that using a bit of cloth, or a couple of socks on either side of the throat would put more pressure on the carotid rather than choking. However I have not tested and I may be wrong.

could you show some sort of example? how would you tie the socks around your neck? do you put it under the rope or something? sorry if this is a stupid ass question
