  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Beautifully said. Thank you. And completely agree with that idea of feeling like suicide is singled out for negative consequences when it comes to ways to die. I think it's a religious hangover where we're taught our lives were 'given' to us by some higher power therefore we have no right to end it, only the giver can do that. Which is of course nonsense. No one gives you life. You're just a sperm and an egg that came together at a point in time by complete chance.
Thank you, thank you for your kind words.

And I agree with your reply.

I see obituaries written about people who died after "an extended illness" and I think, "Suicides are often a result of an extended illness of the mind and soul."
I'm truly impressed by the depth of thought in this thread. The topic is important, but I think most of visit these threads to share in some fundamental form of profound pain. I may be projecting, and if I am I apologize, but I believe most of us are in so much pain, that it's often difficult to sustain an intellectual line of inquiry for very long. And yet here I read folks give very nuanced arguments on a pretty tricky subject. Ironically, it's kind of life-affirming. Anyway, I just felt I had to say that.

I grew up in a very religious family and several times I argued about some aspects of religion and got no concrete answers.
One of them is about this story that suicides are not forgiven.
The answer I get most of the time is that it's not my life. Well, if life isn't mine, why do I have to take care of it? Why do I have to suffer?
I don't have so many answers.
Other people say that life is a gift from God, and we cannot waste it.
In this case, I understand that it is unpleasant for a father to give a gift and see his children destroy "before the deadline", but the father cannot demand that it be done in the father's way, after all it was given. Soon I can do what I want with my life.

This idea that I have to suffer to get better doesn't fit with the claim that everything was created by a perfect God.
If he really is the perfect creator, everything was made by him and everything he knows, he can't punish me. After all, he knows everything and knows that I will take my life.
If he gave me life and I want to kill myself, he failed to give life to this ending.

Definitely, if God exists, he cannot punish for it.

Ironically, you will acheive salvation after all the suffering you are put through in this life.Even after someone puts you through hell and back you shouldn't retaliate, else you will be reborn onto the mortal realm again to suffer. You are born disabled, blind, deaf because of something you did in your past life.Almighty God will punish you for something you don't even remember and if you commit suicide to escape you will be left in this plane for the rest of eternity never attaining salvation.Sounds like tyranny,no?
sounds like my situation

Karma does not exist, it's a figment of the human mind, nothing more.

Does anyone feel the same. I feel so tortured. I just want to be annihilated, no suffering, no consequences, no responsibilities, just sweet non-existence.
I have been brought up with religious doctrines and it scares me too of the outcome of what Im about to do. But Id rather be relieved of this worldly troubles I carry and believe of the peace ill be having rather than keep living in fear even in death.

In Japan, there was a guy who interviewed a ghost in real life and asked him what happens after you die. The ghost said that you have the option of reincarnating by collecting points by doing something(I don't really know this part) and you can enter your next life. You can also not reincarnate either by "becoming an existance like God", for example sugawara no michizane, when he died, lightening struck. There is also another way, which is not very known, because the majority reincarnate, but when the person to take you to another life comes, you don't go and stay as a ghost, gradually disappearing. Because I am not a ghost I cannot guarantee this, but this is just what I heard. The point is, there is not really a mention of karma from that ghost, meaning that the karma is probably circulating only in this lifetime, but not the next. However, I don't recommend dying- What if there is something better for you in the future?
You can choose to believe or not to believe, I don't mind.

How do you know Hinduism is correct? How do we know some cult back before history weren't right about the Moon Snake God of Blood. Humans have been on this planet for at least the last 200k years, the Egyptians were the longest iirc at something like 8k years of vaguely connected mythology. How do I know that when I die, I don't pop up in front of some jackal headed dude with a scale who's like "yeah we tried telling you before this happened"?

The answer is we don't. That's why it's called the path only you can go. It could be any of those and none.

I can't put you in contact with the ghost, because I haven't actually met the ghost, but I can send you the video of the guy who met the ghost being interviewed, if you want me to.(It's in Japanese tho so you probably won't understand it) I'm not telling you to believe it, the guy might just be faking it, idk, I'm just saying maybe it's real.
