OK, I'm going to relate my road-trip fantasy. It's unlikely I'll be able to pull it off, but I hold onto it as a way to keep me focused on the task at hand.

I love the Northwest. Spent a great deal of time out in Oregon and Washington when i was a teenager, spending time out in the woods or along the Pacific coastline.

So, my plan is to rent a car and make the journey from San Diego, CA to Vancouver BC. I'd make a number of stops to visit dear friends I haven't seen in a while, my way of saying goodbye but without they're knowing. I'd visit Redwood forests in Yosemite and Kings Canyon. And I'd visit my favorite towns and cities: Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Eureka, Portland, Salem, Seattle, and finally Vancouver. There's a little island off the coast of Vancouver where I'd like to rent a cottage and that's where I'd finalize. It would be a big rolling going away party.

What do you think? Too ambitious.

I'd drive as far as possible without running out of gas but also being able to end up in a place without much people in it. Most places I know of that I've been to have forests close to those quiet, empty places. I'd go into the forest and just die there. Though, I can't drive so I can't really do that myself aha

Not too ambitious at all.

I love the same region and spent a portion of my 20s hitching & tripping (in more ways than one) up and down that coastline.

Just last year, as a matter of fact - my wife and I drove San Diego to Anchorage in the spring. I really wanted to share those stretches of paradise with someone else.

Wow! You really went the whole way. Good on you. You know, that's one of the things that sullies the potential experience for me, not being able to have a travel partner. There's something wonderfully intimate in sharing a quiet moment on some pristine location and just breathing in the quiet.

Yeah, you're right. Come to think of it, after a respite in Anchorage we kept on going till we passed the "Gates of the Arctic." It was pretty epic. She's Thai so the snow/ice was 1st in a lifetime for her.

What an awesome experience. Truly Epic. And that moment when your friend encounters snow for the first time, what a wonderful gift. Beautiful story. Thank you for sharing.

Feeling bad for your situation. Maybe you could try to find a travel partner for one last hurrah. Travel forums or ride share apps(?) I dunno. Might be something you'd want to scratch off the list before going...

I don't think that sounds too ambitious at all! I have never been to the Northwest, but sure would have liked/like to visit.
A quite and lengthy drive to the beach on the East coast of the country I live in. A favorite childhood beach, where I spent many times with family. Mainly shells though, a shelly beach, not much sand. You can see all the way across to another part of the country, and on a sunny day it's hazy and the water shimmers under the brightness of the sun. The contrast of the white shells glisten against the blue ocean back drop. Under the tree where I sat with my family as a child and had meals....under a bright full moon, a still night with nothing but the sound of waves lapping, gently kissing the shoreline.....that is my fantasy location I would drive to cbt.

Thanks for the kind words. I think that a travel partner would only work in my case if they were informed what my ultimate goal for the trip was. That's why in the past I've posted here looking for CBT partner. But I've never gotten a response. We'll see. I'm looking at dates again, so I may post another request for a pact partner soon.

I think it is a stellar idea. You honor yourself with a wonderful last peaceful journey through some of the most beautiful spots in the world, for what we hope
is a peaceful end, if that is what you choose.

I meant to write you sooner. My mind increasingly finds ways to distract me from the important stuff. The recounting of childhood memories has always resounded with me. And when I am lucky enough to read something as touching and elegant as what you've chosen to share with me and the community, I'm left speechless. If you're interested, there's an excerpt from a short story I wrote a while back. It resembles, in a roundabout way, what you've written here. Let me know. Un abrazo fuerte.

I've always favored Olympic Natl. Park/Forest in WA.

The temperate rainforest gives it an almost disney-like appeal. This is a place where you literally can lie down comfortably on the moss-covered ground and immediately feel very in tune with your surroundings as everything is so moist, fresh, clean and green. What a slice of heaven it is there.

Paulides. Heh.
Have done a fair amount of hiking/camping out there. Actually prefer the Alaskan backwoods. Much more remote.

Been to Alaska more than three times: there's a region called " The Alaska Triangle". 20,000 persons have vanished there the past four decades. Otter Man AKA Kushtaka . . . . :shy:

If I wasn't in this shit hole of a state. Itd be the woods. I feel best there. But since I am, I'll be going to a place called black beach.
Its my favorite place in San Diego. I'll be on the cliffs overlooking the beach

Definitely somewhere near the ocean.

I would love to do the same. I find the ocean to be so peaceful, and if possible, a sunset would only be best to compliment it. The problem is, based on my location there isn't too many remote spots with access to the ocean.

I've never seen anything like this in my whole life. Thank you for this. It looks so blissful and relaxing. I would take off my shoes and just take in what the earth has to offer for the last time
OK, I'm going to relate my road-trip fantasy.

Such a wonderful idea. I love the mindset of enjoying your last moments of earth, as many people don't share the same. I think it's essential to leave with some type of story, to remind others that you left in peace. I personally would love to travel to Banff National Park in Alberta before I leave. I feel like it is a landscape straight out of a movie.

Of course, this is a national park so stealth to a certain extent would be diminished.

Plenty of trees/woods in Cali, no?
Not without driving 300 miles to get there
I'm originally from Washington state so I'd prefer that environment. But since I'm stuck here..
I just saw your post and yes. Something like that. With pine trees and such. I lived 30 minutes away from Olympia and I've been to the place you posted. When I say trees I mean that

You're welcome. Problem with such a pristine location is that it could influence one's plans.
