Hi y'all, new here. I'll make a separate post discussing my reasons, plan, etc, but I just wanted to ask a straightforward question...

Well, like I said in the title: what physical signs were you left with after a failed attempt at partial hanging? How long did they last? Etc. Additional details such as what kind of ligature you used, how far did you get before you failed, etc are always welcome (not because I need technique tips, but just as context for what led to the physical signs for you).

I'm just trying to plan ahead in terms of hiding the signs if I don't succeed after all.

Thanks everyone!

I haven't tried that method so I don't have any experience, but I saw someone online who attempted and their eyes were completely red and bloodshot

I wanted to reply tomorrow, because I'm low on energy, but since the thread is fresh and I'm on the writing streak, I think any reply will do. I've done partial too many times already with many anchor points and ligatures, typed what I remember most. Some experiences are old, so I hadn't know how to actually do it properly

1. Silicone jumprope with tree
Tried with both half-standing and kneeling, but since jumprope was only about 6-8mm thick, it was really hard to pass out. I tried with two trees for few minutes, but since ligature was shit, it was no point.
No physical signs, just disappointed and redness on neck that faded in few minutes.
2. Material belt with tree
It was wider, but not thick and hard enough to be stable. Firstly, I choked and exhaled loudly when kneeling (one kneel lasted 1-2 minutes, but no passing out). Only one time I felt light fainting with hard pain on the neck. Then, with harder drop (it was partial-full?? kind of thing; fallen tree that was both support and anchor point), I felt like passing out, everything went blurry, but the belt ripped in 3-5 seconds, so I had no choice and returned home.
I had slight mark on the neck; it looked like red string with few red-purpure dots. It was visible for 3? days. I felt disoriented and not present mentally, apparently looked like that in pov of the parents too. Next day I managed to smile and hide the mark, but felt the same.
[ I firmly believe that my soul has actually died that day and is still hanging invisibly in that spot ]
3. Material belt and leather belt with doorknob.
It was another one, just different material, with similar width, about 2,4cm? The leather one was the same width, but it was more sturdy.
But no matter the ligature, doing partial with doorknob was hard, because it was too low, so I had to almost kneel-lie in terms of proper pressure on arteries; because of uncomfortable position, it was hard to stay in it, especially with hard and less-strechy leather belt.
Redness on the neck faded in an hour, felt mental exhaustion like I've just run short marathon. Body was in pain for few moments.
4. Shelf bar with material belt, leather belt, scarf.
Shelf bar, on the other hand, almost worked with every ligature! The most successful was with leather belt without any self-tightening knot; 3 times I almost passed out after 10 seconds (pressure in the right place, no "blocked head" feeling, no suffocation), but when loosing consciousness and blacking vision, my BODY stood up AUTOMATICALLY every time.
The common experience though was that the fainting was very slow (30 seconds max). It was trial and error - sometimes it lead to suffocating feeling, sometimes it was done in "sweet spot", sometimes it was simply friction on skin that didn't do much. Often my body's survival instinct came in, it felt that something's not right is happening to the body, so I retreated because it was taking too long (once it was 1 minute and no shit)
Usually, after trying for long time, there was a red mark around my neck, half of the width of the used ligature. It lasted 2-4 days, depending on how hard I've tried. Sometimes a puffy face, but not very red and swollen. A light feeling after successful pressure, but felt "more stupid" afterwards.

I have also experience with partial that was supposed to lead to full, you can read it here. The words are jumbling in front of my vision rn so sorry if something is incomprehensible😵‍💫 (Still, I really can't write anything short huh)

thank you so much for your thorough reply! i'm no longer planning to use this method because I got some SN, but this is a great resource for others to have. hope you got some rest after writing this <3

For me it felt very suffocating and uncomfortable, and I stopped around the time my vision started getting blurry and my heart started palpitating. A lot of people have different descriptions of their experience with partial hanging. But from mine. All I can really say is if you want a very peaceful and swift exit with little to no pain and discomfort. You should probably reconsider.

there's no swift exit, all methods have their own kind of discomfort, you just gotta choose which suits you best, personally, partial is my best shot

There are substances that provide painless exists with almost no discomfort. Though they are extremely difficult to obtain unfortunately. :/

yeah i was pretty much fully kneeled onto the floor hamstrings touching calves, rope as close to my jawbone as it possibly gets, putting all my upper body weight into the rope.

Passed out in seconds, fuck it was scary to lose conscioussness, i had never passed out before that

Could you please describe it more? Were you scared before or when you woke up after? Had the anchor point not broken do you think you would have died?

I used a thin cord to try partial suspension, in my closet. I untied the rope after feeling pressure in my head, couldn't breathe, and slightly panicked. Symptoms: I was cold and shaking, I had red rope-marks on the neck which went away in (about) half an hour and a pain/internal soreness under my jaw which hurt a lot. Made it painful to chew and swallow. It went away in about 2 days. Nobody noticed anything. If you do try/experiment with this method please be warned: it can mess up your throat.

When I tried a partial hanging many years ago, I ended up with bruises around my neck. It was obvious what I had tried to do, so I wore a jacket that covered my neck until they went away after several days. I didn't experience any other issues. In hindsight I did almost nothing correctly for that attempt, the rope was very thin and the placement on my neck was bad. I'm sure that was the reason bruises were the only thing that happened.

Not PH but of you want purely what physical signs you might have after a failed attempt this might be helpful:
I had a close relationship with someone who used to choke me frequently with hands/fabric belts/lesther belts/rope. Sometimes until i wiggled out of grasp or until I went limp but didnt pass out completely.
i had burst blood vessels in my eye whites and in my face from all methods. Around the sides of my eyes and around my lips too. My lips would always be darker red or sometimes purple for 1-14 hours after and the bursy capillaries/ face brusing could last anywhere from 12 hours to a week+ depending on how violent it was and how long I was suffocated.

with things more focused on the front of my neck/windpipe id taste blood in my mouth and have a bad cough and bloody phlegm for about 12 hours.
When it was more focused on blood flow id go partially deaf and had blurry vission for about 15-20 mins.

i never had marks on my neck from anything but a buckle on leather belt but I dont bruise very easy

i think i would have definitely died, i was having a breakdown, straight up crying and screaming before passing out, after waking up it was sheer terror, everything in my room was on the ground, even a floor tile broke because of a barbell i have that went down along with the wardrobe

Happened to me too, i think i didn't metioned it; it was after the almost successful attempt with the shelf bar. The discomfort of swallowing was more noticeable after my FSH tho.
And yes, it CAN mess your throat. I have a slight indent in my windpipe/trachea(?)
