Discussion If you could get doctor assisted suicide, would you?

I definitely would. I'm worried about something going wrong in my attempt and suffering a lot before I die or having permanent damage. I wish my death could be more clinical and not so dramatic.

Yes, absolutely, sign me up! I would rather die alone but it is important to me that I die properly like I'm supposed to. Having an expert around would help with this.

Although it would be nice if they were willing to assist me outside of a clinical setting. I've never been fond of hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices.

This is a no brainer, of course I would! Euthanasia is going to be allowed soon in my country, but I am not sure if I would qualify given that my illness is purely mental... not likely but I will try nonetheless.

No. I still have slight hope (a very tiny bit) for the future. It's the opposite from most people here. I am not necessarily scared of doing it. I know a well placed gunshot to the head would get the job done.

My fear is taking my life now and perhaps missing out on getting better in the future.

Not sure, what if I'm not ready the day of the appointment? I would not want to waste the doctor's time with my indesition.
I do want to ctb but readyness right on the spot fluctuates. I would like the availabilty of self deliverance drugs. With the current technology I'm sure some company would have come up with something peaceful and realiable other than just N. Consumism develops a huge amount of stuff be it commodities, drugs, etc. I guess suicide and self deliverance are just taboo and the majority of society oposes it.
I would like to have control of it myself at the moment I feel is the rigth one, in the place I chose.

Most definitely and I'm currently trying for it in Canada. Even if it wasn't a humane death, medical assisted death would still be best because of the guarantee exit; if something goes wrong the death will still follow shortly and without you being crippled in an impossible exit scenario. I'm several grand from going to Dignitas for assisted death. They accept people with mental illnesses that the patient finds intolerable to live with.

The number one thing that makes people brain damaged I think is being found early. So if one could eliminate the variable by doing it in a tent in the woods or a motel putting a do not disturb sign on the door those places would go a long way in preventing yourself from being "saved" and risking brain damage.

Yes. I wish it was the dr that put me on these meds without warning of side effects. In my fantasy I wish we could see a dr that would agree to see me (or others) for a year and then we could make a choice.
