Discussion If You Became a Ghost?

If you became a ghost or some kind of force after death, would you help people, observe without interference, or take revenge on the living? What would you do and which would you look forward to the most? This is a just-for-fun question. I don't think we become ghosts

What happens next is pretty unknown, though it appears possible that a small percentage of people become ghosts, at least for w hile, usually due to some kind of unresolved issues- in these cases hopefully these issues get resolved eventually and they can then move on. Based on nde stories it seems better to go right to a better place rather than to become a ghost, but we may not have a choice.

That'[s the odd thing- someone committing suicide is more likely to have unfinished business, but only a small fraction of this group seems to become ghosts, at least based on accounts. Some people say that the more at peace a person is with their decision the better chance they have to move on, though who knows for sure.

Well, I am strong atheist so I don't really ever believed in ghosts, but it's kinda fun question. Depends on how this whole deal would work. If I would just be staying ghost for a short while because of unfinished business or something, then I would just use this as a chance to travel around world or something. I would not mind walking on foot for 2 years to China since I wouldn't be able to feel pain as a ghost, i guess?

It would be more troublesome if I would be immortal as ghost. Travelling would get boring after 100 years or so. Not sure how do I ctb again as ghost.

I would attempt to find a way to utterly dispense with corporeal, biologically based existence. This morning, shortly after arising, I couldn't shake the notion that all problems and dilemmas in the world arise from the needs to eat, procreate, defecate, transport oneself hither and yon, etc. War, genocide, rape, murder, torture, invasions by land, sea and air, agriculture, the Sixth Extinction now fully underway, the climate catastrophe, politics, taxation, all of these are driven by humanity's insatiable and ever expanding physical and emotional appetites. In short, physical existence precipitates all evil. Every evil act, large or small, ever committed on earth, began as a fetus.

Humanity's highest goal should be to make the body completely obsolete and, if it felt compelled to do so, find a way to carry on in some post corporeal way. All that being said, if I had my druthers as a ghost, I would opt for a state of absolute nothingness, though my imagination is insufficient to the task of envisioning what that would actually be like. If there is a god or overlord, a creator deity of some sort who conceived of the human organisms and set them in motion, it is the most sadistic and cruel force imaginable.

I thought I'd like becoming a ghost, but if it meant witnessing my parents discovering my body...I don't think I want to.

If not, I'd want my spirit to wander from place to place - bringing positive energy to strangers.

Maybe visit my ol childhood home while I'm at it.

Like I said, I partially believe we will be reincarnated into someone else when we pass away. For all I know, I could be wrong and that's a very small part of my anxiousness to take my own life. However, there comes a point where the suffering has to outweigh the uncertainty of what comes after death for me.

Apparently there are some young kids who have "memories of their last life" and describe some deceased person they didn't know perfectly… creepy but I'm still a skeptic. There's like a research center for them or something.

If I was a ghost, I'd hope I could wander around- I'm terrified of ctb in the wrong place/someplace i hate and being stuck there forever. If I could wander around I'd honestly just go look in peoples houses and watch them do shit, go through their stuff, read their books, arrange meet cutes, log onto the internet and post on the forums. i'd hope I could touch things so I could feel the fabrics in their closets and the thread count of their sheets, put my hands in their flours and sugars, open the fridge and look at everything inside. I spent a lot of my life examining and I think I'd be pretty similar in the afterlife.

Being an ethereal entity without material ties, uhmmmm... I would go to take care of my pets which I had to leave in my hometown, once they leave this world, I will go with them. Perhaps while doing that I will torment some scum or subtly guide some people, but I have no higher goals.

If I was a ghost I'd just go to the houses of the wealthy elite and listen to what they say to each other, I'd also go to secret government/elite bases like Area 51 and the Vatican vault and look at what truly is inside them
