  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at admin@sanctioned-suicide.net.

Don’t try to offer me help, I’ve tried everything

yesterday at work the topic of mental health came up. we weren't busy so we were all just standing there talking, then one of my managers said "if someone really wanted to die they would make it happen". i tried to explain survival instinct and that some methods aren't as sure fire as you think but he was like "if you survive then you didn't actually want to die. if someone survives they probably were just crying out for help or attention". it infuriated me. after attempting hanging, which is one of the most lethal methods, hypothermia/drowning in a river in february, and my heart stopping after taking SN, i hate that someone would think i didn't actually want to do. i have been told by doctors i should have died with each attempt. i felt so invalidated

Can I ask - when your heart stopped from SN how did you stay alive? Did someone find you in time to provide medical treatment?

Ignorance is a really huge issue when it comes to mental illness. The truth of the matter is that dying is actually hard and it takes a lot of courage to go through with it knowing that there's a possibility of failure. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant and should either be educated or brushed off.

People who say things like that should not be listened to. I think if you research ctb you will begin to realise how hard it really is. I have never wanted to be alive but I am still here. For me there is the fear of failure and the lack of peaceful and reliable way to exit. We are all programmed to survive, the SI can make it difficult to exit this world and it can be determined to keep us suffering. If it was easier to leave, I would already be gone.

I've been told the same thing by "friends." If you really wanted to die you would make sure of it or you don't really want to die you just want attention. Needless to say I have no friends anymore. Unless you walk in my shoes keep your fucking mouth closed. - that's my motto

Thanks. I've been believing that I don't want to die myself, and calling myself a pussy for not getting my ctb correct. But thanks for reminding me that the SI and chance really fucks me up

So sorry it happened to you. It is downright invalidating, rude and ill-informed. Happened to me as well after my first attempt years ago. Earlier after hearing such things from other people, I used to ignore thinking they just don't know what they are saying it! But sometimes you cannot help but wonder how cold, hyporcritical and illogical people can get on this. Survival instincts are not morally correct or based on the objective reality of a person. They are just there! It is our inbuilt and programmed mechanism just like many other biological and physiological reactions. They are not always based upon what we truly think or want. I absolutely hate such people who just find another set of bs reason to condemn suicide. It just guilt trips people like us, making the already hard choice of suicide even more difficult!

I'm sorry you went through so much pain. Some people are not worth listening to, and sometimes their presence is nothing but detrimental. Sometimes I still have to remember this.
