Don’t try to offer me help, I’ve tried everything

yesterday at work the topic of mental health came up. we weren't busy so we were all just standing there talking, then one of my managers said "if someone really wanted to die they would make it happen". i tried to explain survival instinct and that some methods aren't as sure fire as you think but he was like "if you survive then you didn't actually want to die. if someone survives they probably were just crying out for help or attention". it infuriated me. after attempting hanging, which is one of the most lethal methods, hypothermia/drowning in a river in february, and my heart stopping after taking SN, i hate that someone would think i didn't actually want to do. i have been told by doctors i should have died with each attempt. i felt so invalidated
