Help i was somehow rejected and confessed to at the same time.

my crush, and i were fake dating just for fun, to troll their friends and they believed it and we just kept our matching bios on our social media, since i personally forgot about it but they messaged me asking if we were gonna "break up" and if we were just dating at this point. i replied with "i dont mind i can keep going" and then they asked me "wait do you even like me?"

for context, they were my first love and i have liked them for now 4 years, we stopped talking in the second year of me liking them for some misunderstanding. i thought they hated me and they thought i hated them. but last year we reconnected and they confessed they also liked me. we talked for a bit after that but we eventually stopped talking, and they basically led me on for a while and dated someone else for a very short period of time (a day.) and we were just friends.

now, when they asked "wait do you even like me?" i misread and read "wait did you even like me?" so i straight up said "yes" but they replied "awesome i liked you too"
after that i just said "oh awesome" but they said "im kinda scared to date rn bc of my past relationship and stuff but i love you, let me get everything out." i did not respond since i was SHOCKED, flabbergasted. i didnt respond and they said "but i love you still"
i am very bad at relationships and just romance in general, so i can't genuinely tell if i was rejected or if i need to give them time. i genuinely love them and dont know what to do..
