I've vented a lot here, and I am here to vent again.

Lately I've found a new addiction: playing with a lighter. I feel satisfied seeing the sparks of fire when I tried to properly light it and when it's lit up, I can feel the fire burning against my thumb and finger. Because of the friction, my skin peeled off. It feels satisfying to me although it genuinely hurts to touch anything now.

I got burnt marks from cooking too, and instead of feeling hurt, I feel satisfaction because I'm in pain and my skin is burning. No, I'm not a masochist, but I am always actively seeing ways to harm myself for no reason at all. I don't know, but maybe this is my only way to beg that I need professional help. And today I did 6 cuts on my thighs, it's been 2 months since I last did self harm.

But all of these are not enough. I want to burn my skin but I am afraid to do it. Should I just buy cigarettes and use my own skin to put it out? Should I burn my own skin with the lighter I keep playing with? I want to do it but first things are scary and I am scared.

Does anyone have any experiences they can share and maybe tips too?

I haven't seen any thread here with anyone who enjoys burning themselves. I'd rather just cut.

please don't burn yourself. it is so much worse than cutting. im not saying you should cut yourself either but if i were given the choice to either cut or burn myself, id choose to cut. burning is more painful, you can get blisters and proper second degree burns which are not fun.

Sorry, but fire is a big no for me. Neither as a method of ctb or self-harm. Maybe you'd better reconsider your decision.

As a method, I can't imagine the pain or agony. It's so brutal.

As self-harm, burn wounds can become infected and do not heal quickly.

I only cut or scratch myself with something sharp, I haven't looked for other ways to hurt myself.

I burn myself with cigarettes and I find it to be weirdly pleasurable and it stops me from spiraling. I used to cut as an adolescent but had too many episodes requiring way too many stitches. Stopped self harming for 15 years and when I resumed, I started burning. Burns can get infected more easily but if you clean them, care for them properly and dress them afterwards in xeroform dressing (or another similar petroleum impregnated gauze) , they heal surprisingly quickly.
