I like myself, a lot. I try to like others as myself (not a christian, but I sympathize with a lot of its philosophy). Try to like the things I do. I'm trying, I swear.

Both Buddhists and Christians see something intrinsically flawed with humans (perhaps the natural selfishness we are all born with). As I understand it the Buddhists try to overcome desire through meditation. The Christians describe a transformation assisted by the Holy Spirit (that few seem to actually take advantage of). Otherwise it may be you have to follow the Stoic philosophy of obtaining virtue by "toughing it out".
