It wasn't explicitly said to be suicide, but I have a hunch that it was from context. Feels strange that he's still posting random stuff on twitter last friday and now he's dead. We're not close (occasionally passed by him way back in college) so I don't feel devastated or anything, but i still feel kinda empty inside. Death does that to people I guess.

He's also way more successful in life than me, at least going by what's posted on social media. Worked in a huge company known to pay high salary (my college was kinda competitive so classmates knew these stuff) etc. Surprising that a guy who seems to have a good life would still take this route. That someone who seems to have his shit together actually also despaired inside.

Also, feels bad man, but I'm somewhat envious that he had enough courage to do it. Meanwhile, I'm still here chickening out at the last moment. I guess successful people are just that determined, not only in life but also in death!

It's really more common than you'd think, outwardly successful people being depressed. I feel like it's often because successful people get all of their value from other peoples' opinions of them, or material accomplishments, and the satisfaction from that rarely lasts forever.

I'm sorry you've experienced this, and perhaps it could even be a learning experience for you. Since you are also depressed, let this be a lesson that aiming for material success and prestige is not enough. It's good to accomplish goals and make those you care about happy, because it makes life interesting and rewarding. But the more important thing is to make yourself happy, and to adjust your mindset so that you always love yourself and derive value from every experience in life (good and bad).

What specifically makes you think he killed himself? If you're willing to share.

Surprising that a guy who seems to have a good life would still take this route. That someone who seems to have his shit together actually also despaired inside.
Richard Cory

BY EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich—yes, richer than a king—
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

The reality is that there is no real relief from suffering in this world so, I see those who manage to voluntarily exit as being fortunate as it's a curse feeling trapped here. I really envy the courage of those who successfully ctb as well, I hate how difficult suicide has to be, so I admire those who manage to overcome all of the complications involved in voluntarily exiting this cruel world.

And I guess that after all, we are all going to die anyway so it makes sense why someone would want to control when they die. Life in itself is useless and unnecessary, with death solving all problems so it never surprises me when I hear of someone managing to ctb.
