Last week, I had an intense vivid dream that made me question what is, and whether this is the only real experience of life I'll ever had. Normally for something so bizarre to happen like having a series of breaking the 4th wall would be written off as a typical dream, but I feel there's something more to it than one would believe.
Imagine a scenario in which you find yourself living a different life, with a different set of friends, consisting of some you know in this life time, while at the same time having some you've never met or seen in your life. Regardless, you "know" them, and vice versa. They'd also address you by your irl name, so... you are pretty much "you". However, as the dream goes on, you will gradually start to become self aware, and as you start acting more and more like you, the other characters will start to pick up on it that something is "off about you". Which by that point, they'll say something along the lines, "You don't belong here. You need to leave."
For those who don't know what's happening at this point, the person isn't telling you that because you're an outcast; it's that they suspect you to be an imposter, and they're right. You're not the same "you" they know.

Assuming you're leaving/walking away, they may or may not figure out what's really going on with you. If by chance it's the former, they might call you back just to make your dream enjoyable. Perhaps while giving subtle hints that you're dreaming.
Such as asking questions related to you sleeping and whatnot... Or if it gets "intimate" and you're suddenly not alone, they'll tell you that the characters you see aren't actually there/real. You probably won't realize what's happening until after you finally wake up.

That's pretty much what happened to me in a nutshell. But with it being so vivid, I wonder if dreams have some connection to this reality. When I look back on it, it reminds me of a story I read years ago about how some dude supposedly killed himself and ended up in a reality that was different from the one he originally killed himself in, where he was with a friend he's never seen in 15 years, playing on a console that never existed called "Centack Enviorview", and when he mentioned about it being even better than Oculus Rift, the friend was confused as he never heard of it, just like the dude was confused about Enviroview. When he remembered his dog and had a panic attack, he was shocked back to a reality that was similar to his own, but different, which in that one, people told him there was something different about him, but couldn't pinpoint what it was. Here's the story for anyone interested:

I wonder if quantum immortality or something is true. No one knows for sure, and I believe there are ways to jump to and become a permanent resident in this better reality. But with all my attempts to go there, I just can't seem to grasp it. So if all fails, I wonder if death is actually the remedy.

We can't experience "death", and there's no time or awareness of it in nonexistence. And I also don't think it's permanent either, as... if nonexistence is infinite, how are we even here??? What if the opposite is true and death is more like a transformation that happens in no time?

That is why I want to have a method I can be sure will kill me, which no one will be able to save me. No antidote, relatively undetectable, quick, and simple to use. Leaving very little to no room for failure.

I believe there is a better world out there... and I'll stop at nothing to get there!

Sorry if I sound crazy… 😅

I personally do not believe that dreams are anything more than a random collection of thoughts, emotions, events, etc. What I do believe is that dreams can be incredibly lifelike, to the point where you question your own reality when you wake up. I've had similar dream experiences to the ones you and the reddit poster have described. Being immediately transported to a foreign world, one that is seemingly better realized than your own. While dreaming our brains can conjure up an entire world with its own unique people, places; q world where you have seemingly existed for decades, with convincing memories to back it up. All of this is somehow manifested in a matter of hours, something that'd take you weeks or months to do in real life.

So I understand your desire to read into your dreams as something more than just a distorted illusion of reality. As for the reddit post, while it is a well-written story, I strongly suspect that they filled in a lot of gaps/inconsistencies, and reshaped the events to form a more coherent narrative. I definitely believe they had this experience, I just doubt the faithfulness of their retelling. Also, it's worth noting that they understand this experienced could've very well been triggered by a combination of their drunken stupor and medication withdrawal.

"I still can't reconcile all the weird little inconsistencies between the world of last week and the world of this week. But given the fact that I went off my meds, and started taking them again, I also have to admit that my perception of things might be really flawed."

That's also the thing… I'd imagine that I dunno, if it weren't for the skipping and you manage to experience a week/year in a span of hours or minutes… Time dilation?

The main thing that would kinda screw things up is if something bizarre happens like say… art the clown appears and stabs you with a katana… or… you fight a giant scorpion… and see fictional characters. Of course, the dream is fluid compare to the reality we exist in. And once you ground yourself in it, it just starts becoming more "stable". I DUNNO… lol

You actually got a good point. I kinda recall hearing about how some antidepressants/antipsychotics or whatever has a side effect of producing strange vivid dreams. And yeah, the drunken stupor is a bit of a plothole. That said, I'm currently reading about other experiences where it doesn't involve drinking. But I guess this is something I'll have to read up more than before.

The sentiment in your post is reminiscent of what I've written in some of my own posts.

I can't say if any of it is real or imagination, only that reality is stranger than most realize and for much of it our senses are ill equipped to pick up on it.

I love these types of narratives. This gives me hope for what I wish to happen after I CTB. Thank you.

The conscious is controllable, organized, limited, finite, receiver of thought arousals and is known. The unconscious is uncontrollable, chaotic, unlimited, infinite, source of thought arousal and mysterious. They interface together in the brain. Dreams can be the brain defragmenting itself to be more organized or it could be a form of thought arousals that are inserted by the unconscious brain to the conscious brain to fulfill laws of attraction, a form of therapy, catharsis or it could be a play of desires and fears.

My belief is along the lines of the multiverse theories. We run on electricity, energy.
I think it's more complex than our minds may be able to comprehend.
Check this out, I think you'll find it interesting if nothing else.

I had a similar experience to quantum immortality where I had a drug overdose and I was certain i was dying and I fainted. When I woke up I was very shocked to be still alive and to this day I still am. However, I didnt experience anything like different features from past timeline. Everything is the same as I left it.

Yeah, I was sorta questioning myself when I was theorizing after waking up. I've had other dreams. But honestly, this one hit me different. And I had some slight awareness of what was happening towards the end. There was some context, though I'd prefer not to give too much information.

Were you hospitalized, or did you wake up where you passed out? And how'd it physically feel upon waking up?

No I wasnt. Before I passed out I had this intense and overwhelming feeling that this is definitely it, the end. Almost like a game over screen from a horror video game. When I woke up I was ok but it felt like i cheated death

I also thought of that being a possibility. Not to say that I've ruled out either possibilities. But, I imagined that I was having a self-aware dream. However, at the beginning, it felt like it was following script until the latter part of the sequence.
