I need advices for my euthanasia request

So, after almost one year of intense reflexion, I'm decided : I'll write to Athanasios and pay CHF 100 to ask them if I'm eligible for them.

They need my medical story, but I have so much things to say. It's so rude to be alone, but nobody irl will help me, so I cannot talk to it to my family. I know they will judge me and put me into psych ward if they realize I'm serious about it.

If anyone else is in an euthanasia process, please DM me. I really need help. I'm so weak these last weeks because of heatwave. It's even difficult for me to type these lines. Thanks.

Horrible that you have to pay money just to find out if you're eligible or not. Wish I was super rich so I could fund my own right to die organization and make it free for everyone. I'm not in the process of getting euthanasia myself but still wish I could help.

Please, before you pay to apply… they normally insist that someone in your family sign off on it. They need to protect themselves from being sued. If you know you cannot get anyone in your family to agree to it, speak to someone from Athanasios about it BEFORE paying the deposit, and ask if an exception can be made. This is why I can't apply, my family would never agree.

This is why I can't apply, my family would never agree.

I've sent them an email last year and they said I didn't need someone because I'm old enough (44), but thanks for the tip, maybe they changed the rules. I'll send another email before paying the amount.

For the moment, all I can say it to send them an email. They will ask CHF 100.- to analyse your request. Anyway, I'll give news on this forum when I'll get answers from them. The worst part for me is I have no formal diagnosis. My pain and agony are 10/10 and doc meds made them worse and they don't acknowledge it. It's cruel and inhumane to allow people to suffer like this. I hope you can get help too.

Many thanks Yes it's very cruel. Even animals can get euthanasia and suffer much less than humans... Don't hesitate to DM me when it's possible.

Aren't you french though? I'm pretty sure you have to live there to be eligible, I really hope to be wrong though

I'm french yes but Athanasios does accept foreign people. Some other swiss organizations don't accept foreign people. In France we'll have a new euthanasia law but it's very strict (just for very disabled people who are terminally ill and dying - another shitty decision from this dumb government but it's better than nothing). It's a first step. Pro-lifers lobbies are very strong here.

I'll keep you updated. I read that they give an answer within 2 weeks (which is very quick). But it's really weird to make such a demand. My mother just called me to take news when I was finalizing the process. If she knew what I really feel, she would be very sad and angry with me (my parents are very religious).

Damn, I've just sent my request for euthanasia. They finally ask CHF 110.- but no matter. I just hope they will agree my request and not judge me. In fac, they shouldn't judge me, but I was misjudged all my miserable "life".
I'll keep you informed when I'll get some news. I can maybe help other people who want to ask for euthanasia in Switzerland.

Some people on reddit said they got an answer within 2 weeks. It may take longer for me as I'm still quite young (44). Anyway, I'll keep you updated.

Really weird feeling right now. I'm not realizing what I just did... But I do what is the best for me.

This service seems less strict; I will keep it in my links when I decide that it's time for me to go.
My only difficulty is that my doctor seems to be against this, so he would not write a report about my chronic condition.. The diagnosis alone probably would not be enough, as for some people it could be asymptomatic or mild.

Did you send them reports of your diagnosis? Or did you receive also a letter from a doctor that is describing your situation and suffering?

My only difficulty is that my doctor seems to be against this, so he would not write a report about my chronic condition.. The diagnosis alone probably would not be enough, as for some people it could be asymptomatic or mild.

I only send them some diagnosis reports. If I talk about euthanasia to my doctor, she will put me in psych ward for sure ! Here in France it's highly forbidden and taboo... I only talk about it here on this forum because it's the only place I can share my thoughts and plans.

I've also heard they are less strict than other swiss organizations. But as I said previously, I'll keep you informed on this thread. I just have to wait. They will call me or write to me in the next few days I guess.

But please NEVER talk about euthanasia or assisted suicide to your doctor if you don't live in a country where it's legal. The risk of going in psych ward is too high. Here in France they can lock someone up against your will. Just keep it in mind ! Most doctors aren't good people. I saw so many doctors who treated me like shit...

Idk, I did not go through the application process, and I actually think I misspoke (as that is Pegasos's policy, but Athanasios may be more lax about it) and @unluckysadness knows more about it, so I recommend asking her .

Thanks for your support To be honest, I don't now what I'll do with my family. I think about it all day long and it bothers me a lot. But firstable, I need to know if I'm eligible (I think I do). The family question is expected to be discussed with the organization. I have a lot of questions.

My parents are not aware of my plans, but I say everytime "it's over for me" so I guess they know I'm suicidal... I'm expecting some relief if Athanasios tells me I'm officially eligible. I think about it since July 2025. Now I must just wait. I think they will contact me within the next days. It's a huge leap into the unknown.

I've been begging my husband to take me to Pegasos since my bridge jump ended up making me disabled (profile pic). He's am not sure I could manage making it to Switzerland from USA on my own. I have a passport and have traveled to Greece once but never wasn't disabled. This is an entirely different situation.

I can't get anyone to listen and I'm looking at SN as an option. I need to read more about it. I don't need to fail again. :(
