I'm so stoked for death , it's like the best gift you could ever have . No worries just pure void of anything for eternity although what if there's more , that's what's so intriguing and mysterious , what if reincarnation is real? Or I get blasted off the space and kick it with ETs , even better what if I get to go to hell and get to kick it with my friends and they're all laughing and singing that Pill Friends song Satan is your Master now welcoming me with joy , or maybe God would think I'm alright and send me to heaven where me and Jesus can shoot unlimited amounts of heroin in together . It fills me with joy thinking about where a rope can take you :)

This was my experience with the rope
Sanctioned suicide
Of course that doesn't mean death is just unconsciousness.
I mean can you tell the difference between not living an experience (being unconscious) and
forgetting an experience that you did in fact live?
Do you remember what you did as a baby? Of course you don't
But that doesn't mean you didn't exist as a baby
Do you remember what you did ten years ago, this day, at this hour?
Probably not. Does that mean you didn't live that day? Of course
you did live it, you just don't remember it.

Maybe when we're unconscious our soul/immaterial consciousness is still active,
but we don't remember anything when we return to our physical bodies,
creating the illusion that we skipped time, when in fact we were conscious all the time

Or it could just be that consciousness is just matter, and when
the brain is destroyed you'll stay nonexistent until
the universe somehow recreates your brain
(there could be another big bang after the heath death of the universe, recreating
this universe, with you in it again)

Check out my afterlife thread
https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/another-stupid-afterlife-thread-because-i-like-them.93149/

Then you have to consider the moral problem of the natural world
If we have souls, and life has a higher purpose (we're not just replicators that eat, shit and sleep),
then why don't these gods/souls do something about all the unjust pointless torture living organisms
have to endure in this physical universe? Maybe the answer to that is that there is no God/souls
or they just don't care about us

Do you think it would be possible for a brain to feel good all the time? every second you feel good I mean
boredom, pain and stress just go away
What would you choose between eternal nonexistence and being a happy drug addict for eternity?
Maybe the meaning of intelligent life is to create the experience machine

Okay bad metaphor, sorry (i never did drugs, I don't even smoke)

Here's another metaphor, think about the happiest day in your life, and
let's say every day from now on, for eternity, you will relive that happy day
Every day you will not remember the previous day, so the experience will always be new and surprising to you

would you prefer that, which would feel good but still be just a pointless dream,
or nonexistence, which is more meaningful, but it's also the end of you

Heroin is like non existence tbh , you feel like you're under a warm blanket and when you nod out your void , it's like nothingness in a bag

Interesting.
Is it similar to that cozy feeling of wanting to go back to sleep after waking up?

I strongly believe that there is nothing after this, when we die, we cease to exist and that is it for us, we are gone. It will just be like how before we were born where time passed and yet we were not aware of anything.

To me, the thought of reincarnation is so horrifying but I believe it to be a fictional concept. All that I want is to permanently not exist, non existence is ideal as it is the absence of everything. All our problems and suffering will die with us. At least no matter what, everything is temporary and if you think about the eternity of death it makes you realise how insignificant our lives really are.

Yeah, I will never understand how anybody can find comfort in the thought of re-incarnation. They must think that they will come back as a pro-athlete or a king or a queen. Do they never consider that they might come back as a cockroach a fly or a lawyer for the likes of Amber Heard?

so we should deny the possibility
because it would suck to be a cockroach?
The universe created your consciousness once,
why can't it do it a second time?
Why would nature care about how you feel about being a cockroach?

I also think reincarnation is a horrifying prospect, but I do want posterity to remember me — and I would like to observe posterity remembering me. Of course, in Heaven, earthly posthumous fame is irrelevant, and nothing in Hell can console the damned, including earthly posthumous fame. Yet I yearn so much for posthumous fame! If millions of people who live centuries from now admire my life and work, then I think I can die content. Alas, I have not yet done anything that would be sure to make me famous hundreds of years from now: time is running out since I will be 56 in September. Ensuring I have posthumous fame keeps me alive, at least for now.

I don't find comfort in either being a cockroach nor in having my consciousness (which is the most precious thing I have) permanently deleted from reality.

Why are you bringing feelings into this
Reality doesn't care how you feel about anything
Reality just is

If it cared about feelings we would be living in paradise already
Reality creates ice cream
and then also creates being burned alive

I don't want to discourage you and I also thought I'd leave something for posterity. However, the majority (99.9999%) of humans will be forgotten from history after two generations. If we can't do something, that's fine. We'll join this group and no one would care. But it would be really cool to leave a mark on this life for all the generations to come.

Normally we have no problem to accept, that things have a beginning and an end. For example, your car. It did not exist before assembling and it will not exist after its end in the scrap press. Nobody would create an afterlife of cars. The same is valid for robots, even the terminator ended in a press. We are nothing but biorobots, nothing will remain when our CPU, our brain is destroyed, that´s the outcome of the latest brain research. I believe our survival-instinct-programme made us inventing an afterlife.

You can't know that for sure thought Gustav. You haven't died yet to be fully conclusive about the afterlife or lack thereof.
Dr. Parnia, in the interview, stated: "The evidence thus far suggests that in the first few minutes after death, consciousness is not annihilated. Whether it fades away afterward, we do not know, but right after death, consciousness is not lost.
