This was my experience with the rope
Of course that doesn't mean death is just unconsciousness.
I mean can you tell the difference between not living an experience (being unconscious) and
forgetting an experience that you did in fact live?
Do you remember what you did as a baby? Of course you don't
But that doesn't mean you didn't exist as a baby
Do you remember what you did ten years ago, this day, at this hour?
Probably not. Does that mean you didn't live that day? Of course
you did live it, you just don't remember it.
Maybe when we're unconscious our soul/immaterial consciousness is still active,
but we don't remember anything when we return to our physical bodies,
creating the illusion that we skipped time, when in fact we were conscious all the time
Or it could just be that consciousness is just matter, and when
the brain is destroyed you'll stay nonexistent until
the universe somehow recreates your brain
(there could be another big bang after the heath death of the universe, recreating
this universe, with you in it again)

Then you have to consider the moral problem of the natural world
If we have souls, and life has a higher purpose (we're not just replicators that eat, shit and sleep),
then why don't these gods/souls do something about all the unjust pointless torture living organisms
have to endure in this physical universe? Maybe the answer to that is that there is no God/souls
or they just don't care about us
