Story I hate to see how the mentally ill are marginalized in society.

I do not feel that society has an acceptable treatment towards the mentally ill, instead of them, I have seen how these people are treated in a despicable way, and in the worst case, if they do not have a family, they are condemned to oblivion and complete marginalization.

This is where the capitalist system fails a lot, since this implies that the value of the person is proportional to the value of the work that he does, in this case, when we talk about a mental illness, he has less chance of finding an acceptable job due to That few people will want to accept it, this happened to me years ago when I tried to apply for a job in a fairly important company, I was rejected and my only solution was to work in the public sector under a miserable salary.

This is a reflection of hypocrisy as society likes to glorify itself of being quite inclusive but this argument falls under its own weight. I just hate it.

Equality is based upon the idea that every person is deserving of the same treatment. The issue - unfortunately - is that those who are mentally ill are not viewed as people in the first place, and so it is not considered "wrong" to mistreat or ostracize them. I believe this would fall under the concept of what is called: dehumanization. This could explain why (certain) individuals preach about diversity, kindness and so on, but can still try to justify looking down on the mentally ill without seeming hypocritical.

I wrote this couple hours ago on my notes:

kinda feel like SS is a diverse place. I've seen two posts on asexuality already, quite a few of us are trans and nonbinary, (I'm saying this simply becuz there are enbies who don't identify w/ the trans label), the thread "wanna ctb cuz I'm Black" blew up like crazy and a lot of BIPOC people here, many openly identify as queer, we have a chronic/rare disease thread and SS is basically one huge "disabled gang".
see, these are the people who wanna kill themselves. stop existing.
this is all hardcore evidence that our system is a failure.
and *that*'s why they wanna shut us down.

The latter made me re-reflect a lot, because it supposes that society will actively want to hide those who do not participate in it or do not feel able to contribute.

This is something I think about every now and then.

I feel we're treated like farm animals, we're expected to produce ungodly amounts of goods in a very short span of time and with little to no compensation; it's something I absolutely loathe of the capitalist system and era we live in, it prioritizes production and consumption rather than wellbeing, personal accomplishments and community; most of society still stigmatizes and isn't prepared to accomodate the necessities of people who do not comform to the norm and risk being subjected to discrimination, regardless of your actual capabilities in the job or doing certain tasks.

In a time where mental health/illness awareness has become more prevalent, it seems there's a lack of sincerity, people like to pretend they understand those who suffer but a lot of them don't really care, they just pretend to care so they get brownie points on the internet, it feeds their egos.

I don't have much personal experience cause I haven't held a job yet, but I'm worried that I may heavily struggle at one due to my own mental illnesses, not many jobs have the empathy or patience for someone who's constantly struggling and talking about them along other topics like suicide ideation, intrusive thoughts, difficult situations ocurring like abuse, etc. can elicit very mixed reactions on others, so most of the time is not worth risking it, leading to alienation and worsening the situation. It's easier to label those who struggle as lazy, unproductive, saying they don't work "hard enough" or something else rather than taking the time to look at the roots of the problem and tackling them.​
