Howdy!

All my life, over 60 years here on this planet, I have always believed in a higher power, but never ever any form of organized religion, as it always seems to me to be about money and not helping folks.

I believe that there are good and bad forces or whatever, but me having to fork over money each and every week to go to like "heaven" no thanks, if my actions do not get me there then money will be of no use anyway.

To me anything related to religion is fictional and is just a way to brainwash people, I only fear this hellish reality we are currently trapped in, I very strongly believe that once we die we just cease existing, we finally return to the ideal state of non-existence where there is no more suffering for all eternity.

Yes Christianity is very illogical and is a cult by definition. Proclaiming someone your lord and savior is the definition of a cult. It was also meant to be a cult, it is called giving cult in European religion. Though I do believe in Heaven, however I don't think I believe in a God, maybe it is a computer, and maybe there are several, in terms of if something is all-knowing. Christianity is a not a serious subject in academia though it is in politics by people who have run the country into the ground like the Roman Empire. My guess is that in some cases it attracts gullible people. People in science have said it is child abuse to teach it to children as fact. It was written in the same language as Greek mythology, perhaps meant to be a similar style and perhaps was intended to be nonfiction by its writers. A bad game of telephone for civilization when it comes to this subject.

Genesis 15:7
Yahweh to Abraham: I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.

Exodus 6:3
Yahweh to Moses: And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El Shaddai, but by my name Yahweh I was not known to them.

Who is El? Basically Canaanite Zeus.

Deuteronomy 32:8-9
When the Most High (Elyon) allotted peoples for inheritance, / When He divided up humanity, / He fixed the boundaries for peoples, / According to the number of the divine sons*: / For Yahweh's portion is his people, / Jacob His own inheritance.

* - in newer texts censored as "sons of Israel" etc.

Either Yahweh lies (not trustworthy) or the Bible was not divinely inspired (making it useless for believers).

Yahweh is an evil god (created suffering both in humans and other animals) so even if he existed, there would be no point in worshipping him, nothing would stop him from breaking the promises.

There is no evidence whatever that any god exists. Thre is no evidence whatever that any hell exists. (Or heaven, either). So I suggest (1) you stop worrying about a non-existent hell, and (2) you stop worshipping a non-existent god. You can make beter us of that energy by being considerate to other people.

I don't want to hate any religion. But having been born into an atheist family that converted to evangelical christianity when I was about 10, even after removing myself from it I still suffer trauma from my involvement on top of the numerous negative effects it had on my life while I was actively involved. It's also been inconvenient for me in terms of CTB as suicide = hell still seems to be strongly ingrained in my mind, even though it's been more than a decade since complete removal. So I "hate" the effect it's had on my life.

A good clue to authors is in the iconic 10 commandments. 7,8 and 10 are all about protecting people's shit. They had to say it three times. Means the people who wrote this were the few who had shit. If an intelligent being, instead, had come up with them, they could have just said don't touch or think about touching someone's shit. And the other two could have gone to condemning, say, cannibalism and pedophilia. But the bible never did that, did it? In fact...

Hell isn't real. I was raised by conservative theists and like many other former Christians/Muslims contended with a fear of hell that I've now overcome. There's nothing to suggest that what awaits us post-mortem is anything other than the unconsciousness that preceded our births. I find it weird that you hate religion yet also worship god. Whatever I guess.

I hate religion because 99.9% of religions involve worshipping/praising god, and I don't think god (assuming real) is worthy of worship. Most of the time they claim he is not ever to be questioned. It is insulting to me that someone would worship the creator of such a hellish place as this. Naturally, they have their (lousy) scapegoats to get god off the hook, an extra tactic which I find incredibly slimy.

Seems interesting. It is crazy to think how far Islam set the Middle East back. Christianity is similar with the Roman Empire and I think played a role in the decline of the USA.

I think Christianity, like anything can have its benefits. It's when people take it, twist it and use it to hurt others that makes it a problem. It's like with anything. I've been hurt by people using Christianity and twisting it to hurt me, but I've also been hurt by people taking "Progressive" movements and twisting them to hurt me. There are good Christians and there are horrible, despicable, destructive ones.

I am A Latter-day Saint (Mormon) and though I believe in and find great comfort and community in my religion, I will never ever dismiss someone's viewpoints and experiences. I will always listen when someone says that religion has hurt them, because like with a gun, words, a knife or anything else, put religion in the wrong hands and it can hurt worse that the deepest stab wound.

I'm sososo sorry to anyone who's been hurt by religion and you have every right to be angry and I wish I could hug you. Your opinions are valid and they matter, because without them, we cannot change for the better, to learn to build up things like religion to be more loving and caring and not judge mental places where people feel hate.

Just know that in my belief, in my perspective of religion, no matter what— whether you believe or not, whether you hate God or not, you will not go to hell, you will find peace after this life, even if you take your own life, because no Just God would punish someone who couldn't handle the pain anymore, who just needed a way out.

i love every single one of you and I just wanted to share this.

I personally I think twisting the words of god is a sin, even if you killed yourself god wouldn't send you to hell, unless your a murderer, I just think of death is god calling their creations home

I've concluded with myself that this can't be a god of love. Anyone who wants your worship or praise using fear and pain is not a god of love. Hell is described as "separated from god". If that's the case, hell's exactly where I want to be. I left christianity a long time ago. My life is all the better for it. Good luck with your journey.

But I believe in spiritual things because the world would just be too boring otherwise, and I rather enjoy the idea of it all~ I believe in Christianity because the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ is extremely good and it's the traditional religion of where I live. And believing and being worried about Hell is merely a side effect of that~

Fortunately for Christianity, the majority of the those quotes are from the books of the Law (which the Jews have to follow) which have been fulfilled and no longer apply anymore to Christians due to Jesus's dying for our sins on the cross. :) The one from Mark is an exaggeration of Hell, and the one from 1 Timothy forbids female priests, but it depends on your denomination whether you believe it forbids them only in that church or continuing until today.

Sorry about your poor experiences in evangelical Christianity. :( They tend to do a lot of evangelizing, but them and Calvinism also scare a lot of people away with poor practices and beliefs. You may not believe me now but please keep an open mind. There are many more types of Christianity than just those 2, most of which are far better in just about every way~ :)

So they used to have to follow them. It is still the same lunacy as having to follow them now. Not allowing female priests is sexism, since it is a hierarchy of the church. I believe in Heaven however Christianity is a not a serious subject in the slightest and is a mythology that confuses people like telephone.
