Meaningless struggle

After over 1 year wageslavering, I finally quit and am happy with this decision.
I couldn't stand being in that hell anymore, having to wake up early and spend 10 hours a day in that company always doing the things i hated, to get home at night completely exhausted. All this to earn a wage that doesn't even pay a quality rent.

So tired of this hell, at monday I decided to talk to my boss that I was going to quit to dedicate myself to studies and so I couldn't stay at the company anymore, but he was incredibly frustrated, more than I expected. So I said that if my immediate departure was going to get in the way of the company, I could stay a few more weeks, but that didn't help. The next day I heard him calling me ungrateful for leaving the job. This sucker probably thinks he helped me lot by exploiting me for over a year. I was so angry listening to this that I just walked out of the company on next day, and I never want to go back there and see that idiot's face again.
If there is anyone ungrateful here, it would be him, not valuing all the sweat and sacrifice of his employees who provide him with all his fat income.

I'd rather die slowly than to go back to that company again and I swear if I have to go back to wageslaving again I'll kill myself instead. I'm glad I'm not in that hell of a job anymore, but I'm also scared that my studies won't pay off or I don't have enough motivation and I'll fail again like I always did in my disgraced life.

You know what? F&$@ your old boss. Who does he think he is? F>€^ him. Seriously. A good boss would certainly regret losing you but they would be happy for you in your new venture. So just say "f#%* him" and be proud of yourself for moving on and extracting yourself, through your own strength and intelligence, from that guy and the sh&$hole he manages. He sucks. You are the strong and good one. Try not to burn any brain cells thinking about him and his crappy attitude. Be strong. One step at a time!

I was able to organize medical leave starting the beginning of this month, but I honestly don't want to go back. I've paid to start a course for EFL teaching certification in the meantime and have the same apprehensions as you about it not turning out, but as you say, if the work environment is hurting you, it isn't worth it. Hopefully the step back will give you the breathing room you need to help you figure things out :-)

Sounds like your boss did not appreciate you. Now he can appreciate how difficult it will be having to hire someone else.

I think that two things are colliding:

1) "Jobs" as contracts to ensure someone does work to earn compensation, have been rethought by modern humans. None of us desire to do drudge filled tasks for days and years and we are leaving them. This concept scares the culture of people who depend on employees to ensure continuity on tasks.

2) we have kept profits high and costs of goods artificially low for decades at the expense of labor. This is a coming shift that will probably cause massive change in corporate profts and investments Iif workers demand living wages.

Your boss isn't thinking about this but she/he is concerned with what is right in front of them. They have drudgery -filled tasks to manage and they don't want to pay you more or have already contracted to pay corporate profits to sharehders. If you leave it will be hard to find someone to take your place for your compensation or less than that amount. I guarantee ythay your boss sees you as a list of things to get done.

Good for you. Some of my 'happiest' moments in life have been quitting awful jobs. I really hope you can find something better.

What was that job & what do you study? Maybe tell him it's a slave wage and it made you wish you were dead.

That job sounds really awful. I see working as just being a slave to the society, it's so depressing how humans are forced to exist and they have to endure repetitive tasks that they hate for decades on end. It's just torturing people.
