• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Most people I know are in general not very happy or at least they don't seem so. They dislike their work, the place they live in, their general circumstances and tend to often complain about all these things. There are however certain moments they all look forward to, but they seem to be very rare and don't last very long. My dad for example hates his work and I don't doubt that it's very exhausting, so he only lives for his weekends and 3 weeks of paid leave per year. I know that he isn't happy on an all-day basis, even tough he does his best to mask that or rationalise it, but he seems content and happy on weekends and during holiday. Most people I know or have known live like this and I've never quite understood the point in all of this. I know it's best not to dwell on these things, as these are just the circumstances we find ourselves in, the systems, which developed over thousands of years, but how can one fail to see the absurdity of it all? It's almost as if we're all doomed to eternally wait, waiting for the weekend, waiting for the holidays, waiting for retirement and ultimately waiting for death itself. I feel like, in a lot of modern societies we've made comfort our highest priority, but only very few people seem to actually be comfortable. I find this sad, isn't there supposed to be more to existence? Maybe not, I don't know

There is no point, i think most people get by by not thinking about these things too deeply and by distracting themselves as much as possible.

When that illusion is shattered, it's very hard to live normally I feel. I find that I have really given up on any meaning and now I can only distract myself until it becomes truly unbearable.

I don't understand how most people are able to not think about this. I wish I could do the same. I recently read an article that young people in western nations have largely replaced alcohol with sedatives and mood dampening medications (like Xanax etc). Way more people are regularly consuming them than like 10 years ago for example. I feel like the illusion is being shattered for a lot of people, especially in our generation.
Anyways I still hope that you might someday find some meaning in sth. I don't think its impossible, it's just so difficult

Unfortunately, we are destined to experience happiness only in fleeting moments; most of our lives will be filled with exhaustion and stress. It's not like when we were children, unaware of our surroundings and with very basic worries. Now, most of us understand how life works and the true nature of humankind, so happiness becomes a minor thing, and we focus solely on things that cause us immense stress
