Maybe it's a little stereotypical to have a mental health crisis and then dye your hair impulsively just because you want change. But honestly, it did really help me feel all nice and pretty.
I haven't dyed my hair since I was about 16 or so? Almost 5 years ago now. I always did these sorts of things by myself because I was honestly a teenage cheapskate and thought "if someone can do something, I can do it too." So, I would always dye my hair by myself, I would always do my own piercings, and I learned how to DIY my clothing. I've gotten a bit rusty, seeing as how most of my piercings are closed and I've never really felt the urge to change up my clothing or randomly bleach my hair anymore.
But I'm in my last year of university now, and I thought I needed something to celebrate. Nothing too showy or crazy, just a simple sign that "I got this far after thinking that I would be dead by the end of the year, every year, since I was 13." I've managed to accomplish so many things in the past year, and I've grown so much as a person, even just comparing myself to the first year I started attending university. And I had the silly idea to match with my cat, Camo, who's a calico. I ended up buying 2 kits of brown tint, bleach, and orange dye each, just because I have so much hair. It took longer than any other time I'd dyed my hair, and I was a bit nervous, because I rarely see afro-textured hair like mine with calico-like coloring. But after about an hour and a half, I was finished, and it looked great. I'm not any professional, but for a dye job more complex than anything I've done in my teens, I was really proud of myself.
It's my first year attending my university's main campus after moving away from home. Nobody knows me, and I don't know anybody, but I got a couple of compliments when I went to my classes today. Still not able to to break out of my nonverbal state, but I'm still really hopeful about my last year in school. I think this will turn over a new leaf.

Happens to the best of us! I giggled a bit, but fortunately hair grows back [mostly..] and I'm hoping you get a haircut that isn't as terrible next time. ❤️

you might be able to salvage it with dutasteride and minoxidil
But not if you have pets!! Minoxidil especially is extremely toxic to pets.

I had my friend (who's training to become a hardresser) give me a haircut. I never had a haircut take 2 hours and have my hairdresser swear this much. I look like shit.
When I was leaving the bathroom my friends were talking and one said to another "how bad does a hairdresser need to fuckup someone's hair to pay the person instead of the other way around" and he responded "i don't know but I would definietly need to pay (insert my name) after this"
Greatest haircut of my life 10/10 would do it again.
Should honestly get him to dye my hair next time it'd hilarious thanks for the idea.

my hair is neither straight nor curly, somewhere in between. up until 2 months ago, it was kinda long, went to between my shoulderblades when wet and straight, but shrunk to my shoulders when dry. took about 1 hour to take a bath and style it and it still looked shit. i thought "fuck it" and off to the hair dressers i went. got a short sides and back, spikey on top. everyone liked it, except for my mother, but she never has anything nice to say anyway...
