When I ctb, I don't want anyone to find my body because I don't want to be seen in that state. Besides, I'm probably gonna do it with a shotgun so it'll leave behind a pretty grisly scene that can traumatize whoever finds me. So I'll probably do it in some large national park or forest where I can be reasonably sure I won't be found. I'll probably also time it to coincide with whatever time of year vultures hang out around that area, so that I can quickly be scavenged. Maybe thousands of years from now, some archaeologist will find my bones and wonder what happened to me...

That's true, unless this person found a remote cave or something- then it might be feasible. BUt they would have to walok from a car carrying a shotgun- and hunters go everywhere, so it would be tough to go undiscovered for long most likely.
There are large areas of national parks and forests that have never been touched by humans. Plenty of people have disappeared in these forests. It's definitely possible to pull off.
If I'm found decades later, I don't really mind, as I'll just be a pile of bones by then. I just want to avoid being found soon after the incident or while I'm decomposing.

IDK. I'm still not a believer. You'd have to make your way to these areas, and how do you know exactly where a specific area is where others have not already ventured? How can you be sure? There are so many others that like to explore the most remote areas, I'd think someone would see you venturing to these areas. Who knows, maybe it's possible. Maybe they'll find you after the animals get done with you. If they ever do find you, chances are there'll still be teeth and bone for identification of your body, so some loved one of yours is bound to find out, eventually. Maybe you can pull it off. They pulled it off with Jimmy Hoffa, but he didn't do it on his own.

a lot of this terrain that goes untouched isn't because of how dense it is, but because of how treacherous the terrain is - extremely steep, random inclines, tough rocks, plus the dense foliage means you're just risking seriously injuring yourself before you even get wherever it is you want to go. not to mention the weather, temperature, etc. that can seriously hinder travel.
you want to assume those risks, be my guest. but you are severely underestimating how difficult it is to even get a mile into a bush.
There's always a chance I could be found, but if the odds were that high, we'd have significantly fewer missing persons.
Animals traverse that terrain all the time. I'm sure I can too.
But if there is anyone who cares about you they will probably wonder- has someone like Dahmer captured you, and are they raping and torturing yuo every day- that would be a lot of mental torment for them. If you want to get back at your family and friends maybe this is ok from your point of view.
As far as ares untouched by humans- how would you get there? By road- how far off the road would you walk carrying a shotgum- maybe few miles? Anywhere that you can access is likely accessible by hunters too. How would you get to a remote area that others can't get to?
Missing persons is a way different situation. Serial killers can hide a body better than you can hide yourself. You can't dismember yourself and hide yourself after you ctb. Also9 many missing persons ran away to start a new life in a new city- this happens all the time.

A body is needed for closure so your loved ones can move on. I myself don't want to have a funeral, but it's not like I'm going to have a say in the matter.
I'm not going to leave my family and friends wondering. I'll send them a scheduled email explaining what happened and why.
As for how to get there, yeah, I'll probably walk off road carrying a shotgun for a while. If I find a cave, I'll ctb there. If not, I'll do it in a ravine or something like that.
Hunters travle pretty far- people will find your car, so they will have a starting point. If they senbd a dog to follow your trail they will likely have no trouble finding you- I do think it will be nearly impossible to keep your body hidden for long- maybe a few days at most, and some scavenging will help to clean up some of thes mess. I wish you good luck with your goals but it just seems unrealistic to get to a location that hunters don't get to- they often wlka all day and camp etc to get to remote locations. I just doubt if you would be willing to walk farther than hunters walk in search of wild game.

But, most missing people were taken and are, most likely, being exploited by other people, so there is control in whether they are found, or not.

I didn't even think about the car until I read your post... yeah, there's no getting around it. Once the car sits there for a while and family gets the emails, authorities will know which area they decided to ctb in roughly and will investigate. They could potentially pull it off somehow but there is no guarantee that their body won't be recovered. Idk OP it sounds like a lot of trouble to go through not knowing if you'll truly be able to hide yourself well enough. From what I've gathered here, most people that choose to go off into the wilderness to ctb do it because they don't want to be caught/revived and find some peace doing it out in nature with no one around, thinking there's a good chance that their body will be eaten by wild animals and potentially not found but I've never encountered someone here planning for this method with the pure goal of not being found ever, or at least for decades.

Wild animals don't see humans as special, they see us as a threat, or dinner. Vultures, bacteria, maggots, wild hogs, gators, sharks, piranha and some rodents will happily consume human tissues and bones! So is one was somewhere hard for people on foot, nature will do the clean up.

It's understandable never wanting to be found, and wanting to ctb far away from anyone else, I like the sound of dying alone out in nature, where I can fall asleep for all eternity and forget about this life. I wish you freedom from all suffering.

People go missing in National Parks and forests all the time and are never found. I have many time have through about going to national park and just walking endless for miles away from everyone and everything and taking my own with sn. I would hope nobody finds me and nature takes it course and I would just decompose back into earth.

I get you don't want to be found, I feel the same, having my body not feel like it belongs to me throughout being alive, has made me really uncomfortable with the idea of being touched or having an autopsy even if I'm dead. I don't know where you live but if you are quite physically fit, wear correct shoes, maybe take a machete for cutting back overgrowth and are okie with maybe climbing, I'm sure there are secluded hard to reach/find places that most people probably would avoid. Can you take public transport to avoid using your car? I don't know if this matters to you but if you go in a cave, most are cold/damp so your body won't decompose that quickly unlike if it was decomposing somewhere warm, although less likely to be stumbled upon.
Also perhaps as an alternative.... I don't think you'll likely be found in the ocean. Perhaps taking the shotgun with you to a cliff and using it, as well as the fall/ drowning may work?
