I don’t understand motivation.

Where do people get it from???

I was in London today and I went on the underground and I just kept thinking: someone created this whole underground system. Someone made this train. Someone created the escalator and the ticket machine and sorted out all the routes. Someone actually made all this.

I know it's not actually one person but many but even so they found the motivation to work together and create something so complex

This is just one small example of how useless I feel - I look at everything around me and the things people have created and I have thoughts like this and I don't get it. Where do people get the drive and ambition from?

i got good in school because i was just bored tbh and had nothing else to do

I mean, how did the Egyptians figure out how to build the pyramids. And with zero modern tech.

It actually baffles me. I'm lucky if I have energy of motivation to prepare more than toast or cereal for a meal.

Haven't lived in London for a long time, but I remember it always felt lonely. So many people bustling about but all very focussed on their destination.

Anyway, I think to have real drive and ambition your work also has to be your passion. Unfortunately most of us never get jobs like that.

Where in London? I love London. I was last in Bishopsgate, by Sushi Samba. Then I had to go on the Tube to the airport back to America I wish I could've stayed in London forever

It's a very good way to describe a feeling that I have so often and that I had never come across in this forum yet, until I read you now. It happens to me all the time with everything surrounding me.

Then I remember that I'm sick and that before I had some health and also motivation to do stuff as well...

You aren't useless. Motivation can be a hard thing to find and can come from a variety of different places. Some people may find motivation from others, from themselves, or from other things. Your own value as a humna-being is in no way defined by the amount of things you create.
