I don't believe psychology is scientific—and I'm not here to argue my position with anyone— because of the lack of objective and empirical evidence that is used to label disorders. Especially when it comes to treating said disorders. I think these are variations of behavior and thought-patterns mostly stemming from environmental factors as well as developmental and genetics ones. In our society they can and have been deemed as disordered and made to be pathologized.

Despite this, the collection of data on differing behaviors, thought-patterns, cognition and emotions composed into labels is useful. It is useful in its function to simply and directly communicate a vague description of one's person (that is, only if correct and self-described).

So all of this to say, I think that the way I observe the world and think of it is similar to that of a schizoid personality disorder. The difference is that I don't believe it is a problem. The main problem for me is living in a close knit society that runs on connection and intimacy. Not having the ability to be independent of this society, being forced by rules and regulations to follow what is demanded and expected, is frustrating. And that is my problem. I'm simply incompatible with this type of lifestyle that humans were born into built by our previous generations.

It really is annoying. I don't like being subjected to maintained societal rules, especially ones concerning ethics and morality. I would rather live a life secluded in the wilderness, only with my close partners and some friends.

It is interesting as my newest relationship with my girlfriend has been insanely different than all of my connections before. I believe she also has schizoid personality disorder which is why we are drawn toward each other. We don't need to maintain a close and intimate relationship because we understand each other. And that certain type of connection is actually nice.

Though I do have some doubts that I am fully schizoid. I do have interest in both romantic and platonic relationships. I do maintain both of them. But I've noticed that most of them are distant and I truly do not connect. Maybe I'm what is to be described as the secret schizoid.

I also think I'm some sort of schizoid based on the descriptions. I simply don't crave intimacy and I'm kinda autistic.
I don't really like that idea, schizoids have a low probability of succeeding in anything.

In order for something to be considered to be a disorder it must impair or discomfort you in some way.
If you're suffering from something, it's worth trying to change it - thus the "pathologizing".

If your schizoid traits makes you suffer, it might be worth classifying and working on them. Otherwise, you're just introverted - which is fine too.
Your views are not very strange. I would personally not suspect underlying issues, besides moderate disappointment with mental health care.

I look forward to the day when the human brain is fully mapped out. All mental/personality/neurological illnesses/issues/divergences fully recognized, understood, and treatable—if wanted. Then, psychology and its various cousins will finally be able to step out from under the shade of the umbrella term of "soft sciences" and can be fully embraced and destigmatized by those who respect all other "hard sciences."
Predictions from a decade ago put the timeframe for such a revolution as being many decades into the future. However, with rapid advancements in computing technology and AI, present-day scientists seem reluctant to give a new estimate. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see it accomplished by the mid-2030s.
I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for governments and corporations to use the information first for mind control. Might be a good thing if robotics and AI replace most humans, then, because if we aren't needed by bad actors to enrich themselves, they will hopefully leave us alone. Who needs flesh slaves that age and die when metal and plastic ones are repairable, upgradable, and recyclable?

Not saying anyone is doing it but be careful before you self diagnose. Everyone is saying they're autistic or have ocd or ADHD or bipolar. Let a doctor tell you.

its hard to say off the bat, because a majority of schizoid symptoms are also symptoms for a large chunk of other disorders. depression, anxiety, ptsd, autism, and even just stress in general leads to wanting to detach. Especially now (if youre in the US at least) I don't think most people like the way society functions. Schizoid is trademarked with EXTREME social withdraw, to the point of not having a job, not interacting with close friends and family, ect. to the point it becomes dysfunctional (whether you see it as a problem or people you're dependant on do). As is the case with most personality disorders, it takes a long period of analysis to determine that it is a personality disorder, and not just an off period of time or having a couple "unique" traits.

I obviously don't know you personally, so i can't determine whether or not you have it. However, if you don't believe in psychology, why lean for a psychiatric term rather than something like "introverted" or "distanced"? both convey the point in an easier to understand way for people unaware with the condition, and they both come with much less stigma than schizoid does

Albert Einstein, Darwin, Freud, Bill Gates, Isaac Asimov, Stephen Hawking & Karl Marx were all schizoid.

One psychiatrist tried to diagnose me with schizoid once. This was the psychiatrist who for weeks would do nothing but ask me how I felt, and I'd say I felt the same, and he would order me to take more Zoloft per dose. That's it. For weeks... until I finally told him I could stay miserable for free and without the side effects of the medication that weren't helping me. So I stopped seeing him, and he didn't really bat an eye.

Meanwhile... from what I could tell the definition of schizoid is kind of hard to pinpoint to me as a disorder. I mean, it's kind of like diagnosing you with not wanting to be around people you don't like. Not being scared or unrealistic or anything... just deciding the people around you that you most often encounter are not your cup of tea and you're depressed because you don't have anyone but depressed being around people you don't fit in with too.

Think of the thing where someone tells a homeless person to just buy a house... or a hungry person to eat something... or an unemployed person to just get a job. Like these are just things you snap your finger and they happen.

I've said many times... if all the unemployed showed up tomorrow at all the unemployment agencies ready and willing to work... there would not be jobs for all of them. Even if they all had marketable skills. There just wouldn't.

And people say "go to college and get a degree". and I say... ok... imagine a world where we make it so everyone can go to college and get a degree, either because it is free or because jobs are available or whatever... but imagine a world where everyone gets a degree. Now what? Your janitor is going to have a degree now. He isn't a janitor because he isn't "good enough" or "smart enough" or doesn't "work hard enough" but because there aren't enough jobs for everyone, and at each type of job there are limits too... and we still need people to pick up trash and sweep floors and stuff that people like to look down on, but will freak the F out if trash starts piling up on the streets.

So, a person who looks at the world and sees it as kind of F'ed up and doesn't want to participate in the fuckery... that person gets a "schizoid" label and deemed a problem. What do you want to bet most if not all of the schizoid personality types are just realists seeing the screwed up world the way it really is.
