I am glad there is no porn section/thread on Sanctioned Suicide

I met a close real life friend today. And there is an online game he enjoys. I won't specify it it is an Asian game. He is part of an online community related to the game. And because we were bored he wanted to show me funny videos and memes. And he showed me the porn section of this community. Some Videos were sort of funny. But also quite disturbing.

And I am saying this as cis man with no sexual traumata. Some videos were funny and made us laugh. I could imagine such content can numb one's sexuality though. And more and more hardcore content is needed. There was nothing illegal but so many explicit hardcore pornography. The intent wasn't to sexually arouse you but to make you laugh.

I cannot imagine the impact of such videos on people with sexual traumata. I know some people develop hypersexuality because of the sexual abuse. And are very sexual in nature. But I also met some women who didn't want to have anything to do with this topic.

We already had this debate once at Sanctioned Suicide. And one good argument was. The internet is full of pornography why exactly should we need it on here. There is no real benefit. I think it would have a very negative impact on this community if it was normal to spread such content frequently on here.

i agree the site doesnt need a porn section but i think saying that just because some people don't like porn or certain kinds of porn or might be triggered by it the porn shouldnt exist is a terrible argument. for 1. porn is fictional and hurts nobody (well atleast drawn/written/animated porn, irl porn is an entirely different issue) and many people with trauma find it s good outlet, and 2. it's peoples own responsibility to manage their triggers. just because some people might be triggered by say certain words, doesnt mean we should ban those words or that using those words anywhere is bad.

but like i personally enjoy lots of nsfw content alot of people would consider extreme and i'm not weird sbiut it or snything and i dtill respect people who arent into it. also many of my friends are into the same stuff and actually have some kind of sexual trauma and it helps them cope (but even if it isnt a coping mechanism it's still fine)

Eh, I kinda agree with you since I find that porn sometimes is me exploring some kinky stuff I like because I see it more explored when it's written but if it's animated or performed it's cool too. I guess, too much of anything can be bad especially with porn and they type of it plays a role too.

Yeah I'm glad there isn't a section for that on here, as well. It's kinda disturbing to even consider the thought that a website designed for people to discuss their suicidal ideation would bring anything porn related into it. That's just inviting certain perversions; and that's disturbing. As someone else already mentioned, imagine the field day the media would have with that one.

This is why for humanity to move forward IMHO we need to indoctrinate children from birth into veganism, feminism, etc. Even if they are psychopaths, nurture can do a lot of things and if we teach everyone from birth to love instead of hate and consume, the chances of corruption will be lessen AND EVEN IF THERE ARE corrupt millionaires, we would actually rally in the street in that world.

that's not the porns fault, just like how it isnt the drugs fault for drug addicts, some people use drugs safely and arent addicted, drugs arent inherently bad. porn is way different to drugs and has nowhere near the level of addictiveness but any shame you feel is on you to work on and get rid of. don't judt throw the blame on something.

i think there are just more factors at play than pornography as a blanket term in the case of women facing systemic objectification. we aren't supposed to live in little boxes entirely detached from each other, normal human society involves everyone living with each other and caring for each other, there's an inbuilt deterrent to dehumanization in that.

yea if ur only experience of people is through seeing them have sex on a computer then i think the end result is predictable. there is an industry behind that, though. there's monetary incentive to, as some mentioned, literally creating a dependency on viewing increasingly more disturbing, dehumanizing content.

if it helps to put my ideas into perspective, this isn't coming from a personal place, i have to skip through explicit scenes in movies and stuff because it grosses me out.

but experiencing sexual attraction is, from what i gather, a large part of lots of peoples experiences as human beings, and there is a very common link between sexual expression and trauma as someone already said. queer people often tend to find identity through things deemed fetishistic, as they don't find that expression in common heteronormative frameworks of sexual expression.

if there's actually porn on here please keep it away from me, i agree, and part of this is seeing the perspective become derailed a bit as the thread progressed. but consent and empathy are concepts that go beyond porn, and i think some of the criticisms here are wildly misdirected. fetish and kink are okay, treating people horribly isn't.
