I've been struggling with anorexia since I hit puberty. A couple of years ago, I was taken to the ER after fasting for 3 days straight and I overheard the doctors say I should've slipped into a hypoglycemic coma already. Since then, I've resolved to fast until I slip into one then ctb before I'm found.

Would this method even work if I'm not a diabetic and I have no issues with glycemic control?

Unless you inject insuline in your body you should not die from hypoglycemia (if you dont have diabetes) You body can create sugar from non sugar sources like fats or aminoacids. And if you were fasting for 3 days you body probably just used stored glucose in form of glycogen (you liver and muscles can store sugar in this form and use it later as energy) So if you are healthy and you do not inject yourself with insuline then you wont die from this. If it was not as I am saying then I would be dead already because I did fast 21 days just on water.

Did you pass out during your fast?

I fast without electrolytes. I allow myself water and 0 calorie drinks.

No but there were moments when I experienced lightheadedness, not pleasant but I kinda enjoyed fasting, worst of all the things was falling asleep hungry.

I did 21 fast too without electrolytes not even salt, but from experience salt is really helpfull in water fast, its probably key electrolyte in fasting. Maybe magnesium too. But I did 7 days fast with salt and I had more energy back then when I compare it to other 7 days of fasting without salt. But other than water (optionally electrolytes) should not be allowed in pure water fast.

Fellow anorexic person here. I don't eat but I do drink broths to avoid heart issues, it can skip and get uncomfortable after days. Those comas are possible even for a non diabetic. I wouldn't recommend it though. I lived in a town where there was a famous case of a girl in hospice care. She went on a diet and fell over, coma for like 2 years and eventually her family turned off the machines and stopped her feeding tubes. Brain damage was just too severe. She died in a hospital from dehydration after 2 weeks while being unable to move as her family was watching her pass. News reported every day about her. So there's a chance you will end up a vegetable. I would not recommend.

You dont have to do all that. Either trigger hyperglycaemia (unmedicated) or hypoglycemia (take extreme doses of insulin). Im a medical student but im unsure of the doses required for that since it depends on individual characteristics.
