From my research and experiments, I have come to the conclusion, that increase in CO2 levels is not the only trigger that forces an inhale, anxiety/panic itself can do the same, hypoxia too, although it's very weak compared to hypercapnia

Shallow water blackout is an accident and is impossible to replicate in a sucide attempt. People who have the discipline and training to hold their breath die accidentally and hyperventilation plays a major role but is not the only factor. Being able to exert yourself while holding your breath all the while staying calm is paramount.

I guess, other than N and SN as chemical poisons, the only viable violent methods of suicides are firearms and hanging.

Thats why you try again and again, until you finally pass out from to low oxygen levels in the brain. Ive been practising Wim Hof method and its actually the same thing, but not in water. You just hyperventilate in a way that you exhale as much c02 as you can. The trick is: run out of oxygen before the c02 builds up. That way you will pass out before the need to breath comes up, wich is caused be the build up of c02

I don't really care at this point. I'll gladly swallow a lake of water like it's a fine wine and let nature do the rest.

There's a remarkable difference in the duration of breath hold with and without hyperventilation...but still not enough for oxygen supply to run out...exertion even though uses oxygen produces carbon dioxide as well...

I don't know if it's worth practicising...because in the end when it's time to take the leap, I am pretty sure it wont help and as @Zzzzz said it's easier just to make peace and just take in the water.

I am curious anyway, what's the wim hof method? I saw his book somewhere titled the wim hof method....It looked like a hypothermia endurance training manual. He's some david blaine type guy afaik.

Update: I looked into it, got his app, I will practice for a week see if I see any improvement in breath control. I was intrigued reading the Wikipedia article mentioning accidental deaths people practicing in water.

Its not just hyperventilating. Wim hof practises it in a way that you get as much oxygen in and as much c02 out. The more rounds you do the more you get in a trance like state. Ymi sometimes will be able to hold my breath for more than 4 min. But i will be in a very dreamy state its almost like im sleeping and i wont recall anything from the last minute. So it IS very likely you pass out if you do it in the water.

Yes, the state is very hypoxia like...In one day I went from 50s hold to 1m 30s

I can imagine if I can get up to 2.5 - 3 min, and start doing underwater laps, fainting is possible

But, will have to try to find out, just practicing for now.

You need to breath in very deeply fully fill your longs as if you filled your stomacht till your neck fully, then dont breath all the way out but just let go the air and when you dont feel the pressure of the air anymore breath in again.
