I'm also not fond of the idea of being found with a bag over my head.
If I were a first responder, I'd rather prefer to deal with a bag over the head than a whole damned car filled with the highly toxic gas. This is just a common sense - larger volumes imply higher risks and more efforts at handling the mess.

As for the aesthetical part, estimating how beautiful or not you look should be the last thing the first responders would care about in such a situation. It's very possible that the hazmat team will remove all your clothing right at the death scene and put your body into some large bag before transporting it.

Yeah, that's the part that troubles me the most. I really don't want to put anyone else in any kind of danger. I hadn't heard of this method until this morning when I stumbled across the latest PPH. It was a relief to find a method that seemed relatively simple compared to N (given that there's one 800 page thread about N), but it really isn't if you've watched the "Helium is Better from Final Exit on DVD (2006)" video and can understand that the regulator is the only thing that makes it slightly more complicated. A turkey bag, a sweatband, and some tape are still going to do the trick. I'm an old engineer pushing 60 and I can get it right. If I feel ready before I've sourced all of that, then I can get it right with my .38 and +P hollow points in the drawer next to me.

There are going to be people who take the H2S route because they're seriously ready to go and can't easily get 99.9 Helium or SN though. I don't know why the US is so backwards on this issue. Most can get a firearm if they want, so that's good for those wanting to exit, but they kill a lot more innocent people than secondary H2S ever will.

I'm new here but I'll post the 2006 video that I mentioned if it isn't already available here and not against the rules to do so. Just ask if it isn't a violation of the forum rules and you would like to see it. I'm not going to do PMs directly though.

I think that people with engineering mindset don't need to follow instructions created for an average poorly educated person. You can discover many alternatives to the popular methods by analyzing how things work. It is enough to reduce the concentration of oxygen in the breathed air to 6% (or below) in order to produce quick loss of consciousness and death in a few minutes. So if you mix 1/4 air with 3/4 of some nearly oxygen-free gas by volume and breathe the mixture at the standard atmospheric pressure (or nearly such) for several minutes, you'll die. Deadly low oxygen concentrations can be achieved in different ways. The technique suggested in PPH is just one of possible options.
Hâ‚‚S poisoning may look appealing, because its lethal proportion in air is easier to produce.

GasEffective concentration in air / proportion of air displacement for quick LOC and death, by volumeDanger for others
He, Ar, Nâ‚‚, Nâ‚‚O72 - 75%minimum
COâ‚‚30%minimum
CO1.3%significant
Hâ‚‚S0.1 - 0.2%significant
HCN0.2%highest among the listed

I posted this in another thread last night, but if using a tank, this is a really good price for an Olsen flowmeter/regulator.

There once was a time where you could walk into a garden store and buy quarts of Lime Sulfur. Lilly Miller and Bonide was the manufactures. Buy quarts of the works toilet bowl cleaner from your dollar store. Buy a five gallon bucket. Mix at a one to one ration. There once was a safety video about mixing it using different amounts and the hazard it created. It violated YouTube's terms and was taken down. It is funny because they keep increasing the amount and creating a bigger hazard. Darn. I wanted to see them mix five gallons of both in a small car.

These days, Lime Sulfur is near impossible to find. It joins PURE Helium Balloon gas, Sodium nitrite fish egg preserver, and portable one use bbqs as items that are a holly grail to find. Soon Nitrous oxide containers will be joining the list.

As for safety, this is very dangerous! Use signs to warn first responders! Do this away from public! Wish me luck on finding the video.

I have found a H2S suicide case report from a turkish medical journal. It shows some NSFW pics (postmortem examination photos of the deceased person, not something extreme). The entire report is written in turkish except the abstract part that's in english.

For those curious and lazy, let me do a quick summary. The guy mixes a bottle of hydrochloric acid (which is most probably for home use, meaning it is 15-20% rather than being concentrated) with a bottle / or several bottles titled "Vet Solution Lime Sulfur DIP" in a red plastic container in his bathroom while his parents are away for a religious holiday. He was found dead when the parents came back. Having seen the warning signs all over the house and realizing the stink, the father forced open the bathroom door and saw his son lying dead. Interestingly and thankfully there was no additional death or heavy injury by the accidental inhalation of h2s.

Some other details are as such: The deceased was found with a pair of goggles (specifically welder goggles) and an unspecified pair of gloves on. If you are curious about the entirety of the report, please use google lens or some other means of translating. Again, if you do not wish to see a naked dead body, consider not clicking the link.

Contains NSFW images (Autopsy of a 23 y.o. Man)
