• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Everyone I see or have met is always cruel to others for no reason. I don't understand why many people seem to think that most people are kind or selfless, when in reality almost everyone is selfish and cruel. It's become a game of "is this person going to be unnecessarily mean", and the answer is the same every time.

Everyone wears some kind of mask they use to protect their own ego. Most people arent true to themselves aswell, which leads to insecurity after insecurity stacked altogether. Fact is, human nature is selfish enough that the brain demands a chemical reward just for 'helping' someone. Of course, some people are better than this, they don't need to hide behind masks, because they are the mask. Just know that these types of people are so rare that I've only found two in my entire life. Still it doesn't spare this reality from horrible people that suffocate the lives of others for their own sake.

Humans are kind at the given of selfish benefit; a cynical creature is the human. As animals, there is no benefit to being kind unless whom you're being kind to provides you benefit. That's why empathetic acts are done in public and not to people who won't recognise the act. At the most sincere, it's to give one's brain the happy zip zaps it wants.

It's all a disingenuous game; it's never about the individual. Quite haunting in reality, it feels like you're being hunted when you really think of this. Leeches sucking off of you at every glance looking for personal gain in some form or another.

Perfectly natural and thus extremely harsh.

No. Humans aren't incapable of being kind.

They're just comfortable being cruel. There's a difference.

Cruelty is easy. It's casual. It's everywhere. I see it every day. I feel it every day. People speak down to you, over you, through you. They reduce you to an inconvenience and call it normal.

But some of us wake up and actively choose not to do that.

Some of us try. Even when it costs something.

Don't erase the ones who are trying just because the loudest ones are awful.

People might disagree with you, and I'd wager it's because they overestimate the extent of their own empathy and care.
I don't know if it's solvable, but people's cruelty, be it an apathetic or active form of cruelty, is largely socially conditioned and brought about through material basis. What the hell does 'showing kindness' even matter if it's not shown in the systems we operate in?

I've known plenty of genuinely caring people. Unfortunately, they're all in my past, or dead. My mother comes to mind. Not a mean bone in her body. Good to everyone with no pretense.
