  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

I really think it varies a lot by the city or town a person is in; i mean there are so many places a person can get shot that will drop them without killing them that it just seems really high risk.
As long as you remain a threat they will shoot to kill.

My dad did this to me once, not out of concern but as a punishment as I didn't call him back as fast as he wanted (he has control issues and a rage disorder). I opened the door and told the police officer that my dad was crazy and was sorry he wasted their time. The officer left right after I explained the situation and remained outside my door. I think if you are calm and collected and explain that the person that has called for a welfare check threatens this kind of thing often, they will see it as more of a domestic issue and leave you alone.

But it is smarter to not open the door to let them in, as then they might want to look around and in the US they have no right without a warrant (but once you open the door you pretty much have invited them in to look) It's better to talk through the door but explain it as a domestic issue and they will leave you alone.

If a child may be in danger they do not need a warrant- this is actually seen in the video I posted above.
Yes, I was talking about if it is an individual with no kids. I suppose it all depends on the situation, but if the police are called for a welfare check with no other evidence out of the ordinary, then they do not have the right to enter.

This actually happened to me once for non mental health related reasons.

My mom freaked out because I wasn't contacting her , she sent like one "hi" text which I just ignored because I was busy and then I think she sent another a week later and when I didn't respond she called one .

From what I remember I think 2 maybe 3 cops showed up and I freaked out because I had no idea why they were there and to make it worse my friend had a fucking pistol laying right on the floor which was the first thing you'd notice from the front door . Not a crime to have the pistol where I was but that always freaks cops out

At any rate I just talked to them explained oh yeh I just have been busy I must have not checked my phone and off they went and I told my mom something like don't ever do this again or I'll actually ignore you. I wasn't even trying to ignore her it's just I was busy

Happened to me once a while ago. I just kept saying I'm not suicidal, not planning to commit, listened to their monologue and that's it. They were very nice.

Edit: Because I was dumber back then and googled something that got caught by the algorhythm, they showed up 5 hours later.

I would probably just politely decline and tell them to leave. They can't make me let them welfare check me, right?

This has happened to me three or four times because I was stupid enough to trust my "friends". Cops are the scum of modern civilization IMO. They persisted and threatened me if I didn't let them into my room. After I let them in they just inspected what I had in the room and asked me questions. I convinced the cops I was fine a few times and sometimes I could not, when I could not, they threatened to take me to a hospital forcibly if I didn't do it voluntarily.

That was my experience with cops. so I think the best thing to do would be to firstly avoid having cops called on you (Do not use suicide hotlines, tell your friends how you feel if you don't trust them). But if somehow cops are in front of your door, maintain composure and try to convince the cops that you are not going to harm yourself in any way and convince them that you do not have anything in your room that can be used for the purpose.

in my experience they made me. they said they will have to use force if I don't comply. I was even handcuffed once when I declined to go to the hospital with them. I am from Canada though, my guess is American and Canadian cops are pretty similar.

I imagine myself grabbing the cops gun, kicking their ass, and shooting myself.

In reality, I'd probably reach for their gun and get arrested.

Keep calm, say as little as possible to them, insist that I am fine and hope they leave me alone.

Title basically, what would you say or do if they showed up? Would you just close the door or are you obligated to go with them?
If you want to get rid of them, especially if you have CTB ingredients they could seize, play the game, show them you're fine and functional and that there's nothing to worry about - if you become obstructive they may view that as concerning
