He's your boyfriend, so I think he should understand. You're guessing he already knows, so it should be easier for him to accept it. He had time to think about it and reflect.

I would just tell him, vocally or by letter, text message. You could tell him what you expect from him in this matter - maybe some help and support?

As someone who had an eating disorder for most of my life (bulimia and anorexic tendencies since 9 now in recovery) and partners in-between I have some advice for you

If you tell them you make it their issue. They will probably become very focused on what you eat and don't eat. They will also feel powerless if the disorder wins out. I don't suggest seeking out understanding or acceptance from someone who doesn't have an eating disorder. Their entire focus concerning it will be to help you get better and this can be a lot of pressure

l would suggest seeking treatment and let him know that once you've found some. After that if he becomes concerned you can tell him that you appreciate it but the things you're eating or not eating are being negotiated as part of your treatment

had a boyfriend who knew about my ed and we kind of made a joke/meme of it between eachother and our friend group. It's worth it so you can be open about what you're feeling but there were times where he genuinely frustrated me, yelled at me when I didn't want to eat his mothers cooking and shit. People honestly don't really care until it becomes personal/their problem. My parents use it against me constantly. If you trust the guy then I'd say just go for it
