If you have a place to use and the time to do it, I would recommend sitting on the edge of it for a good long time. I felt like I could afterwards when I did something like this.

You can imagine accidentally falling while up there too...

I answered this recently in this thread on SI and jumping

You need to be in the right place mentally, you need to understand jumping, no matter what there is no going back, but you will either die or live with serious injury. IF you can accept that, if you can bring all the hell to the front of your mind, all the hell that makes you want to CTB, bring to the edge that pain, realise that this is what you want, this is your desire, then jumping will be as easy as taking one step in front of the other.

(I have nearly jumped, I had NO SI using methods and similar above) but a random passerby pulled me back ffs

From my experience you need to be desperate. The day my father died (4 years ago) I tried to jump but they immediately pulled me because they knew I was about to kill myself. More than one month after that I made a plan to jump in construction site which I thought no one was there but when I entered there were construction workers and I immediately withdrew. They thought I was thief and was calling me "hi you" but I quickly withdrew. At night of that day I again went but workers were still present. The next day was my university registration and since I didn't want to go I became very desperate to ctb.

I went cliff diving on the river last month and I took a few seconds, but I'm very impulsive. I know it's just the water I was jumping into, but it felt nice

Practice is the key to the lock the innate need to survive holds on us.

I would agree with the above and also encourage you to explore whether suicide is truly what you 'want' (or need), or whether there is that small part of you desperately wishing another door would open. It may well be that you've already reached that mental state, but speaking for myself it wasn't until I overcame my fear of death (as in my fear of suddenly ceasing to exist) that I was able to seriously contemplate a plan. During that process of mental exploration, I also realised that a lot of what I thought was survival instinct was actually what you might call 'unfinished business' that I needed to mentally take care of before I felt absolutely ready to commit to a plan.

Get a feel for it by jumping off of high diving boards into pools. Or, if you're up for it— sky dive. Closest thing you can get to the real deal.

Wish I knew... I live on a fourth floor apartment and even though it probably won't kill me, I can never bring myself to use this as a method.
I guess, for heavy drinkers out there, alcohol may or may not bring down the fear and SI?

So how do I jump?
sometimes I practice falling back onto my bed but I put the pillows and duvet around so its more softer landing
that might sound crazy because its soft already right? well i did it the first time just on to the mattress and it hurt my head so
