  • Hey Guest,

Where is the air that you breath out going to go? Only ask as I'm intrigued, as I am using a similar method, except I plan on using a respirator so that the air I breathe out leaves the mask. Won't the mask just fill up and break the seal?

EDIT: oops didn't realize this thread was so old!
I was thinking the same , where would the CO2 you exhale go ?

The bottom of the mask has a one way valve to let the air you exhale out, seems to work pretty well

Ah I see, thanks!
Would you mind linking me to the regulator you bought from totaltools? Is it easy to set the flow rate?

Thanks for the reply, i am interested in this method in preference to the hood, so is this a standard full face diving/snorkel mask with an intake at the top and a valve below the mouth area, i can see a lot of them for sale on eBay/amazon etc

I understand the instructions you gave to connect the mask to the tank, so thanks for that, good idea

Sure, it's https://www.totaltools.com.au/111633-michigan-argon-flowmeter-25l-min-flw801fl4
And yes, it's very easy to set the flow rate.

I know this is an old thread, but why not just attach the hose directly to the heat shrink coupled with a ring and just have that already together? Interesting that nobody has ever lived to tell anyone if there is any discomfort or awareness during the actual dying process of this method. I've been contemplating this method for emergency situation where food and water might be scarce in a long term disaster that lasts for years. Its always nice to think one has a peaceful painless way out of any bad situation that has no solution in sight. It all depends on one's tolerances. I'm skeptical of argon and would worry that the convulsive possibilities might disrupt the process because the gas is a bit different at 100% than nitrogen. I like the look of your metre, but am in America with limited options. I have my nitrogen tank, and after watching some videos about the fact its a "sleeping giant" I'm a bit afraid of the liabilities of owning it and what might happen if its ever compromised. If I tried putting myself down in a hotel, and things went wrong, and I survived, what would legally happen for any destruction or mayhem? There is a way one has to attach the metre with care and there are video about the proper way to do this. Any thoughts?

Anyone know what kind the adapter exactly is? I've looked for it and found similar things but not that exact one. Tried to PM the OP but no dice.
