I don't remember where I found it. It seems on another forum. I think it should be here.

I am absolutely, definitely, completely 100% not sure about anything when it comes to my setup. I could easily see the rope breaking, the support coming crashing down, not achieving unconsciousness but rather slowly suffocating to death while desperately clinging to anything I could get my hands or feet on, making enough noise to alert every neighbour in the building and the police and the army and every member of the parliament rushing in to bring me back to life and and... In short, I'm not confident at all that this'll work. I'm pretty darn desperate at this point, though, so I just have to set those thoughts aside and try to go through with it. Granted, I do still have time to buy another rope, but... [insert excuse for not bothering with that here.] As if I didn't have enough bullshit health issues to deal with making it hard to move anywhere from my bed, I was intensely nauseous this last night and if that continues, there's no way for me to even consider traveling all the way to the hardware store. I might try to catch some sleep and see how I'm feeling later in the day, but we'll see what happens.

As for your question about "complete hanging", I wouldn't know, don't remember using such a phrase. I'd imagine a complete hanging would be one that carries its intended purpose to completion, that is, all the way to death. But yeah, the plan is to go with full suspension where I can't reach the floor with even the tips of my toes. I've read about other people failing due to that, they've miscalculated the length of their rope and ended up being able to relieve the pressure on their neck by standing on their toes. Once I've committed and taken the plunge, I want to make sure there's no plausible way for me to get out of the rope, so I'd certainly prefer to not be left there balancing on my toes like a ballet dancer for hours on end. Do you reckon fracturing the hyoid bone (or sustaining similar injuries) is likely with full suspension with a minimal drop down? I could certainly see how something like that can easily happen if one were to fall into the rope from some height (as happens with the long drop method), but not sure if it's something one should be too worried about when there's not much of a drop to speak of. With partial I've sometimes lifted my legs completely off the ground for a short while and been okay, so at least personally, I'm not too concerned over the possibility of sustaining such an injury. Even if something like that were to happen it wouldn't be that big of a problem as long as the setup held as it should, seeing how one would die soon after anyway, right?

That's an interesting idea to reduce friction between the rope and the neck. I assume the fabric is thin enough so as not to affect the rope's efficiency with regard to applying the needed pressure. If I remember correctly, the user @Partial-Elf also used a carabiner in his setup with good results. Personally, I think lubricating the noose and the knot is my best bet on such a short notice, but I'm yet to test how that works. Need to do that experiment soon too, I'll probably consider myself to have failed in my mission if I'm still breathing at this time tomorrow. Been cleaning my apartment from stuff I'd rather not have anyone see (it'll still be left in an awful condition, but what can you do) and written a few short messages to be sent on a timed e-mail. It would mostly just be to spare neighbours from the stench of a rotting body, there's only a few people whose lives would be in any minimal way affected by my death and I've never talked to them much in life, don't think I have much to say in death either.
Carabeaners are helpful but not required. If you use one, attach it with a figure 8 knot. Also, consider using a door holder for resistance bands instead of tying it to something jenky. Getting a rope for rock climbing and cutting it to length is the most reliable way. Padding on the neck helps reduce pain. Alcohol is helpful. In my experience, a quick sharp drop with all your weight on the noose has a higher likelihood of working than slowly easing in.

By "working," I mean:
  • Faint vision
  • Feeling of body spinny lightness (the technical term... lol)
  • A rushing or pounding in the head and ears
  • Progressing to the edge of consciousness
  • Feeling weird
The disclaimers apply:
  • I've almost died accidentally while practicing. It really can be hard to get up if you go too far. For this reason, I don't recommend practicing unless you're okay opting out of life AND you're alone in your living quarters
  • Finding the right spot/technique can be really frustrating. I think it has more to do with speed of sinking into noose than noose placement tbh
  • Damage to the machinery of the throat is a genuine possibility here, especially if you're practicing for real. I haven't had it personally, but it's a risk to be aware of

  • Formatting of this post is fucked now but... in conclusion, partial hanging is a good method if you don't cut corners with your setup and are able to have a little luck with sitting in hard and fast and finding the sweet spot

Sound advice. I'm equipped but not ready. I can see the risk in rehearsing too much.

Would anyone know if hyperventilating before hanging yourself would be helpful against panic setting in? I've read that taking rapid deep breaths helps in lowering the amount of CO2 in your body, so would this prolong the time before the CO2 concentration reaches extensive levels and causes you to have a bad reaction? Also, any idea as to whether it'd be better to step into the noose after inhaling or exhaling? Taking a deep breath would, I imagine, make it easier to hold your breath for longer, but I've also heard it is more uncomfortable to hang with your lungs full of air.

I do not know about the inhalation or exhalation. But I saw a video where the boy, before hanging himself, breathed very often. He lost consciousness very quickly.

I, too, will most likely use door hinges. My weight is unfortunately about 140 kg, and I really very much hope that it will hold me back. Try hanging on the rope for a while holding hands.

Ugh, please search "Door holder for resistance bands" in amazon. It's what you want: cheap, reliable, meant to hold a lot of weight, and simple to use. Not sure what else I can do get this to catch on among the Hanging crowd

Ok I hope you will find a spot that you are comfortable with. Thanks will try hanging on there with my hands for a while.

Thanks for the tip. Will purchase one of those. The only problem is I only have one good door in my small apartment and that spot is not ideal. But its good to have as a last way out.

What do I do with the other end of the rope when full hanging? The one that doesn't go around my neck. Tie it as well? Will it be enough to hold my weight?

I tie mine to a bar with a bowline knot and test it to make sure it'll hold my weight even when convulsing, and do lots of research as well.

Does anyone know of a good cushion between the rope and the neck? When I try to partial hang the rope digs into my trachea, choking me. I want it to be more comfortable, while constricting my arteries.

where to buy good Hanging Rope in UK? (op only mentioned neck tie and against nylon rope, string, fishing wire )

in case i got asked what kind of rope, how should i describe it?
(i can't say i'm looking for ropes for suicide)

the Slip Knot part is for the head to go in, right?
how to tie the other end to a tree or lamppost?

is the following diagram good enough for slip knot?

You seem to know much about hanging; I am divided between full and partial suspension.i live alone now, in a much larger house, and nothing short of tenant discovering my body will deter me. I have utility pipes running length of basement; I would use one of those. Thick rope or thin rope, which do you advocate.

So I'm sure it's been covered somewhere in the thread but I can't go through all 63 pages haha so would the pic below be a good partial hanging rope? It seems a smidge too thin, no? 28910E9E EE2E 4EB9 BF1B D0BD76F59CF2

also what does the community think of this as a point to support the rope? It *looks* unsafe but it's connected pretty well to the wall. the lack of options suck, I don't have really any other place I would trust to hang myself from

Hi,

Can anyone tell me a reason why I shouldn't use this type of line? I'm 118 lbs / 53 kg.

Since I'm OMW to CTB tonight, I thought I'd leave some of my process in case it helps anyone in the future.
My rope is Everbilt 7/16" heavy duty nylon.
2019 12 16 17 21 27 https wwwhomedepotca product everbilt 7 16 inch x 100 feet nylon smoot
It's rated at 465 lbs capacity so should be more than up to my meagre 118 lbs of body weight.

The instrument of my destruction, itself.

I wrapped a necktie around my neck firmly and gently tied it off at the back. It's soft silk and will prevent any abrassiveness from the rope. 20191216 173051
Noose hanging coiled around a door knob. I have pulled with all my strength on that knob, from the end of the rope, and it hasn't so much as creaked. Hopefully it will hold my weight.

And looped around, hung on the other knob for good measure.

Ezgif 3 d28f4111bbf4 cr
And finally we have the memories I'll be looking at as I kneel into the blackness. The pictures she drew of our MMORPG characters (FFXI!) when we were little. The FFXI-themed mug she sent me from across the world when she barely knew who I was. And a few of our precious moments together.

I know I don't need to worry about the pain from the operation because it can't possibly overcome the pain of staring in the face everything I lost.

Wish me the best. If you're the praying sort, put in a good word for me with the old man upstairs.

Wish you the best in the afterlife kevinjones

To accentuate a point made few posts earlier be careful when practicing. I had trouble finding the carotid playing around, then set this up a nice way while in very rough mood and the passing out came on quick. I was leaning forward to create the tension, not squatting straight down and had trouble getting the apparatus off my neck at first. If I had to fully stand up to do it may have been difficult. Then just for the hell of it I tried again, works in about 5 seconds no pain... If I ctb this will definitely be how.

It is indeed sad that so many are opting for the final solution; I blame this society and it's ruthless inequity. How people manage on a daily basis just to survive is shocking. I swear we are living in the end times. As a baby boomer, I do not want to find myself living into my seventies, the mere thought of it terrifies me. Unfortunately, in the state of Massachusetts, guns are difficult to come by and are essentially illegal here. Were it otherwise, I would have blown my brains out a long time ago. I feel badly for millenials.

I was almost at the pearly gates and felt like I had to back out. Something felt wrong about my rig, but I can't say what at this point.
It certainly seems to do the job. A few seconds in and I had loud rushing in my ears, my face was extremely hot, and I was starting to like my eyes were going to pop out. But it wasn't painful, just uncomfortable.

Oh yeah... I know what was strange to me in my benzo-filled and blood-deprived brain: I started standing but ended up on my knees. That shouldn't have been possible with my setup.

Going to have to inspect all my gear.
On a side note, afraid to let anyone see me. I look like a complete wreck now, with burst blood vessels all over my face. No neck markings, though.

edit: http://lostallhope.com/suicide-methods/hanging/what-others-will-find

This indicates that burst blood vessels indicates that only the jugular was blocked and not the carotid. I have had trouble finding and blocking my carotids in tests, but I assumed that a tight noose would find it all the same.

Is it possible that I'm just not a good candidate for this process?

I feel this. If I had been more careful in high school I wouldn't have been sent to a psych hospital and I could have taken the easiest way out.

Is a rope that was intended for a drop hanging suitable for partial suspension or should I get another one that isn't as thick? Sorry for the stupid question.
