• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Forever missing you, forever sorry

Hello stranger.

Do you have any tips on how to disappear without anyone looking for me for at least a couple of days?

There's this place I want to CTB at. It's very dear to me, and I'd love to spend my last moments there. It is, however, a significant distance away from where I live, around 8-9 hours by train and then I'd have to catch a cab to get there. Of course, there's no issue with the travel time, I don't mind that at all, however, that means I'd need at least that much amount of time (but ideally more, to be able to spend a day just sitting in nature enjoying one last time there) without anyone looking for me. I live with my parents and siblings, so my absence would be noticed pretty soon. The destination I have in mind is in a different country, if that makes a difference. I'm an adult, so there's no restrictions there whatsoever, and I have some money saved up.

I know this isn't a method discussion per se, but it's connected to my plan, so I hope it's allowed. I appreciate any insights and ideas you can give on the topic. I'd also just love to discuss this idea further. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Without knowing anything about you, your routine or baseline behaviour it's hard to answer this.

What would not stand out to your family as a red flag if you told them you were doing for the day? Visiting a friend from school? Going for a hike? Taking a day to yourself / going on an overnight trip?

Only you know if these sound believable or not.

That's fair. General tips would help a lot too (Something generic like 'don't use your credit card if possible').

I was wondering the same things as you asked, though... it's hard to answer. I've been struggling with debilitating depression for a couple of months, so I rarely leave the house. No friends. The most I do is go to the store on better days, but then again, that only takes a couple hours at most. On the plus side, my parents arrive home late-ish on weekdays, and my siblings spend a lot of time at friends/partners, and everyone goes to sleep fairly early. I'm planning to leave for departure when no one else is there, so I don't have to explain and potentially raise alarm. It's after that that I'm not sure what to do, in the hours that follow.

I mean this isn't advice but if I was in your position. I would remove sim from my phone and snap it when I am close to my destination. I would definitely use cash.

It's not as if a search party is going to be chasing you down because you are not answering the phone so I would try not to be too paranoid about it (so you could actually enjoy your time by yourself).

It's hard to imagine having people who would notice I was gone personally I only really have to check in every few months on occasions so hopefully this isn't completely useless for you. Somebody else who lives with parents could probably help more.

To help you I looked up a couple of articles from my local newspaper I remember having read before.

Okay, so the authorities will first and foremost consider if there is a natural cause for your disappearance (e.g. visiting someone). If they find any discrepancies, they'll make a risk assessment. A cop interviewed in one of the articles said that they'll "constantly gather as much information about the missing person as possible".

As an article about a suicidal teenager who ran away says, if the police believes you're in an imminent danger, they will urge everyone who sees you to dial 911/999/112/000/whatever. They will inform the media about you, describing how you look and where you've last been seen. Volunteers will assist the cops who also have helicopters and dogs in use sometimes. I know it sounds like overreacting but when suicide is on the table they will resort to desperate measures. Unfortunately.

In many cases the cops might contact transport providers (taxi, train and bus companies) and describe them your appearance. They'll ask your bank about your account activity and may track your phone. They'll question your family about mental health problems and substance abuse. If you're in the EU, this will probably be relevant for you. Also, in Europe cooperation between countries is greater than in other parts of the world, beware of that.

Hope this doesn't come across as fearmongering, I just wanted to give you some info. Hopefully this was helpful. I wish you peace no matter what you choose to do.

Judging from your avatar, you're into manga? Maybe find some sort of convention and tell people you'll be going there?

Jump off a boat into a deep lake or ocean with a heavy weight attached to your leg with a stainless steel chain.

Wow, thank you for putting sm energy into researching this! This is very helpful. It certainly is good to think about all the steps the authorities might take when they are contacted. The critical period is the hours it'd take to get to my destination, I'd hate to be intercepted before I even arrive. I am in the EU, and so is the country I'd be going to, so the cooperation is a very relevant thing for me to consider.
