hi i'm so embarrassed LOL but i just ordered takeout for.. the 20th time these past 2 months so might just go for it and ask. has anyone dealt with this, and if so - how have you gotten over it? if not entirely, how have you managed to reduce it?

i hate being in debt solely because of this, just paid half of it off. had 500€ in total but 250€ left. they refuse to give me any nutritional therapists whatsoever, citing that they don't have resources for a trauma case like me.

Don't be embarrassed! I'm not sure if it will help as most of my emotional eating comes from food already in my house, but typically my emotional eating has stopped when I've tried to keep food out sight as much as possible. So deleting delivery or takeout apps when you're in a very emotional state might help! Replacing emotional eating with another hobby you enjoy, like in my case drawing and playing video games, has helped me a bit as well. Also this is more or less me being kinda deranged but imagining myself in detail eating whatever food I'm craving at the moment seems to help.

I hope you're able to access to a nutritional therapist soon though and one that's able to help you successfully as well. <33 Sucks that you're being denied care like this

Try to make it as inconvenient as possible. Delete your account AND the app

I like eating delicious food, but I count my calories at the same time and I have a rule to not order from outside except on Sundays. Try to have some guidelines for yourself. It will help.

Replace it with something else. I've been cooking with hello fresh for the last couple months. Removes the barrier of shopping for ingredients, but you still have to cook the meal and they're all pretty healthy.

I've been struggling with this for a while, if I could delete the uber app(uber eats is built into it) I would. Unfortunately I need it as it's my only mode of transportation. While I haven't been able to stop it, some of the things I've tried is obviously thinking about why I want to eat, what else I could do, and more so why I SHOULDNT!! I look at my bank account and remind myself how sick and upset I am afterwards. Sometimes I will still look and 'plan' like I am but then don't actually order it and just make some (really bad)food that I have at home. I'm still emotionally eating but it's less and or less on my bank account… but it's any case a win is a win.

the only thing that kind of helped me is tirzepatide, i've been using for 2 weeks, but still every now or then i still order food when i'm really really sad, but it reduced how many times i do this, before this i used to order food and overeat almost everyday

Whenever I have a good day, I can convince myself that I deserve a reward, and sometimes that means fast food. I have to remind myself that I need to save money, and need to reward myself a different way.

It can be very hard to replace it, but a frequent reward I do is a full body shave. I do it 2-3 times a week. It can be exhausting, but my body very much appreciates it.

I think just doing something to take care of yourself really helps. It takes your mind of the gratification and hunger. Also chewing gum really helps!!

That's what it's all about, not instant gratification, but long term payoff. The reward being I saved money, I treated myself, and it's going to help me feel better for the next coming days. If I had just eaten fast food, I'd have an upset stomach, I wouldn't feel healthy, I had used money, and it only covered one meal in my day.

I try to play the tape forward, remember the cost of it all, how small the portions are these days after paying so much, remember realistically I'll order more than i want and end up hating myself.

No real restrictions help so much so as putting myself someplace else too, like "hey you're really hungry/it really is dinner time? Ok let's go the kitchen first and see if we have something you like" or "hey you want to feel good/you're bored? Maybe a game/movie/music would be enough for now? We can get food when the feeling is hunger, not an emotion"
