If you have an actual decent rope (as opposed to belt or scarf) and an hour alone how reliable is it? Is it possible to survive full suspension after an hour of hanging? Is there anything that can make it more reliable? I've read in articles of people being found with their hands tied and other people having tied something around their mouth (to stop them shouting for help I presume).
Especially looking for feedback from people who have researched this method or who have full suspension as one of their chosen methods. I have read most of the hanging threads here too! The PPH and Last Five Acts say nothing about full suspension. In fact Last Five Acts says don't do it, it's a horrible way to die as you'll be choking and suffocating for up to thirty minutes which completely contradicts most of the info I have read here.
Thanks.

A full suspension is very reliable if you are not found too early and if your rope is in order

How much would you say is too early? Sorry, I mean what would you say is a minimum time needed to be alone? Most people say half an hour. Does that sound right?

I've read it takes 5 min max to suffocate if no air is going to your lungs. Why would anyone say 30 min?

I think you can be rescued maybe after those 5 minutes but still survive with brain damage idk

Statistically the most reliable I believe.

Brain cells that are deprived of oxygen for more than 5 minutes begin to die. Of course, this is in the case of anoxia. Hypoxia is a state in which oxygen is partially delivered to the brain. In full suspension, it matters how much the rope compresses the carotid artery.

Make sure you setup correctly with a good rope, tie off, slip knot and time alone. It should be 100% successful. Pass out in seconds, brain death after 6 plus minutes and no heartbeat around 30 minutes. Pass out is the important factor. Do your research!

Well, the reason is pretty scary- because a person can be there for a while with their windpipe partly closed off but not completely closed off and, oftentimes, the arteries don't get compressed enought to cause ctb either.

Please research. There are a lot of frightening tales thrown around out there but they cannot have facts behind them. Horror stories are best left for Halloween.

Is there a specific "tale" you think is really common but wrong? It would help me as I research. Thanks!

I'm terrified by the concept of full suspension, especially if not being able to compress the arteries and pass out and have hard instincts kick in thrashing around in pain and regret with nothing you can do about it. No one deserve to go out like that, though I guess some might not care as they'd be dying anyway. I intend to CTB with hanging but partial suspension with a secure anchor point and making sure you pass out whilst leaning seems so much more desirable, I don't know. I'm sorry if I offend anyone

I don't see why you can't lean in while lowering yourself in full suspension also.

i've actually done partial with with a belt on a door belt under my adams apple and was almost out pretty quickly. Sadly I can't do that though I live with family.

Ive read that youll have to grease up the rope very well because natural instinct will cause you to grab and save yourself. But then again if you think youre going to try to pull yourself out of it maybe its not the time

If you do it properly you'll be out so quickly you won't be able to take it off unless the body still tried when unconscious. Who knows.
