When I was a child, up to the age of maybe 10, I had nightmares all the time. When my own kids were younger I would have nightmares about bad things happening to them. I think I've had one nightmare in the past 15 years. I don't dream often but when I do it's usually about something I'm working on at work. Great!

Almost never. But what's the difference between a bad dream and a nightmare? I can't recall any dreams that caused me to wake up in fear, (jump)scared, or otherwise distressed. And I'm not anxious to fall back asleep if a dream wakes me up in the middle of the night.

That's not to say I've never had a dream in which I felt "true" terror. It's just that such dream don't affect me after I wake up. They just make me uncomfortable, as in, "oh, that was weird."

I used to dream, sometimes nightmares, but I think that stopped when every waking moment started to be a nightmare. Maybe the mind is sparing me now, thankfully.

Almost every single night. I don't often wake up in a good mood because it. It sucks having to decompress first thing in the morning every day, waking up physically refreshed but mentally tired after a full night's sleep.

And when I get sleep paralysis, my dreams will blend with reality, even lasting after the paralysis wears off, until I fully wake up. More than once I've swatted at hallucinations.

Helluva way to start the day.
