I was two weeks without drinking until tonight sometimes it's the only way I feel like I can deal with everything.

Same it's more like an escape however I stopped recently because it led me to a poor decision that triggered my suicidal thoughts again

drinking numbs the emotional pain for a bit

Does it make you feel happy for a while? Because if you just wanna feel less anxious, anti-anxiety meds are better

It leads me to bad decisions also I just really needed to escape from everything how else do you deal with it? One of my biggest ways is motorbikes, when your riding it clears your mind and stops you thinking about anything else but it is 2am here and I have to be at work in 4 hours so I can't really ride.

I have been drinking on and off but mostly on since I was 16 or so. I still drink but try not to do it as often since it makes every problem I have worse.

It doesn't really make me feel happy more relief because I'm more numb to everything, I have been on a lot of different anti-anxiety and depression meds and nothing really dose it as well as drinking.

I use to exercise a lot out of High school which helped me build a routine and pulled me a bit away from the self doubt thoughts however a break up triggered me and I stopped and turned to drinking. I mean maybe if I felt life was worth living again I'd get back into that routine however my mind won't allow it since I made up my mind this year is it for me. No more negative life experiences

I stopped drinking as much from about 16 to 21 but I had a bad brake up with my ex and ended up homeless and have pretty much been on and off drinking since then.

It is good if you can put negative emotions into something positive I tried for years and taught myself to program I wish I could still do this but I just don't have the motivation for anything anymore because it all seems pointless when I probably won't be here before long. I also had a bad break up that made me worse than before, you have to try and be happy with yourself and not rely on other people easier saying it than doing it though.

I've been drinking everyday for the past few days. Shit be hurting my chest when I drink and my left arm be feeling weak. It's like the blood circulation is cut off. I'm hoping it will kill me one of these days.

I drink way too much. And I always worry when I finish my bottle because I don't know how to deal with life without it. It sucks, because alcohol is very expensive where I live. I spent my last money on a bottle of vodka this month. And now I have none. It also hinders your weight loss. But this euphoric feeling when you drink is so good and so helpful especially if you have OCD.

Yeah, I drink every day. It doesn't make me feel good but it reduces that intense pain that comes with depression. My tolerance to alcohol has also really gone up and I've gained so much weight just because alcohol has so many calories. Oh well.

I have restricted my drinking to Saturdays. I enjoy it very much though - I am interested in different kinds of wine; I like to mix cocktails; I like to try different kinds of whisky

I like drinking with other people especially

I had a 2 months sober streak from alcohol but yesterday I bought some beer and it seems I keep going on today. Man it was easier for me to quit speed than alcohol, it's one hell of a substance and I don't get why it's legal

I'm the one person who has never drank alcohol at all. When I turned 18 which is the legal drinking age in my country, I smelt some and I just couldn't. I am really sensitive to strong drinks. It can mess some people up so maybe its a good thing.

Anyway, last Sunday's hangover was terrible. I don't know if I'll drink this weekend.

Well on my way already as most nights, self medication, self harm etc, anything to shut my mind up so I can wake up another day, it's tiring, but what can you do, kill yourself? All jokes (even bad taste ones) aside, yes, I drink so I can sleep too

I've been drinking a bottle of whiskey or brandy for 72 days straight and counting. That's more drinks than I had in the previous year by a long shot.

I'm more of a Marijuana smoker. Helps me fall right to sleep without feeling like crap the next day. That said, I do drink on occasion. Mostly beer and vodka.

And you know I was trying that for a while "being happy with myself" and not rely on other people however here comes another guy around the corner to distract me and then I made a mistake and here I am again back to extreme depression and inevitable end.

I'm going to copy this as a poll in the off topic forum.

I drink nearly every day. Nowadays, due to my job which requires an early morning commute, I drink less.
